19 LIMITED + AirStream Globetrotter 25 - Having Payload/Tongue Weight Issues

New to this forum, please take it easy on me.

I've got a great problem, My wife is saying "when you gonna get the truck and airstream." She is pushing me because the weather is getting good

I'm about to pull the trigger on :

19 RAM 150 Limited with all the tow related options and 20" tires.
19 Airstream Globetrotter 25

I'm reading about issues with the tongue weight and a low payload specific to this RAM/AS combo.

adult - 200lbs
adult - 130lbs
3 toddlers - 100 lbs

We pack heavy.

I do not want to jump to 2500 due to size and features.

What do you guys think?

A limited with a few additional options could give you around 1500 pounds of payload. My Laramie Longhorn with the options listed in my signature has right at 1500. The high end trims and added options for every manufacturer really eat into the payload, it’s not just Ram.

Subtract out 500 for occupants and hitch could leave about 1000.

What’s the advertised tongue weight for that trailer? The advertised weights are usually WAY lower than ready-for-camping weight. Especially if you pack heavy.

Search “towing” on this forum. Lots of good info. For sure do not buy the Limited until you throughly read what others have shared on this forum. I have a Limited with pano roof, off road protection, 22 inch wheels, 3.21 rear end and my payload is only 1350 #. Not very much.

Dry Hitch weight on the Globetrotter 25 is 882#.

I replied to you on the Airstream Forum as well... I got rid of my 1500 Limited with a payload of 1310# for a 2500 Limited (going easy on the options) and have a payload of 2900#.

We are also looking at an Airstream and I went with worst case scenario and decided I should get a truck that could tow the trailer if I were at the GVWR and still not have an issue... as it stands, even with a fully loaded AS I'll be at about 40% of my payload allowing plenty of fudge factor in loading the truck.
