It’s not. I replaced that this year when I did the CV shafts. And I rebuilt the one that came off so I have a spare if I ever need it.
All the best,
Glenn
My Ram remanufactured CV shaft I replaced earlier this year leaked from the boot closest to the hub and got grease everywhere.
Under warranty, they shipped me another remanufactured one. The splines are too loose, so it won’t lock in place, and it wobbles worse than the original one I...
LBJ needs to be replaced. Knuckle will just flop to the side with no tension at all if the UBJ and tie rod are disconnected (noticed during CV shaft replacement). Truck also makes a clunking noise from the passenger side. Not sure if it’s the LBJ, bushing wear, sway bar link, or something...
Looking at Rock Auto - LBJ's are available by themselves (Suspensia or Delphi), but would require me to press them out. I don't have the tools necessary to do so, but I think if I looked at Autozone, they probably have something I could rent (maybe).
I'm also seeing lots of complete Lower...
I noticed yesterday that my sway bar links need replacing. Boots are deteriorated. I went on Rock Auto, and they have:
Daily Driver:
Moog
Dorman
Mevotech Supreme (Greaseable)
Premium:
Mevotech Tough Terrain TTX (Greaseable)
My truck is a daily driver. No lift - just factory.
Would you...
I have to change out the drivers side CV axle again (remanufactured one from the dealer blew up - grease everywhere). I can't seem to get the dust cover to "seat" over the seal on the differential. It just kind of lays there, and periodically it will make noise (rattling, scraping). I can't...
Apologies. I didn’t get notified there was a response and didn’t see it until I was checking my recent posts. They changed out the oil cooler for a new one. Factory part.
I'm looking into this tonight, as AMSOIL sold me MV ATF for use in my BW48-11 (Which I'm assuming that's what I have, as I have the 4WD Auto option on my shifter).
I looked on the Mopar Parts site (https://store.mopar.com/transmission-and-transfer-case-assemblies) and found this, going through...
Thanks. I may have to go this route. It’s a shame the rebuild kit costs just under the retail price of the whole shaft assembled with additional parts.
All the best,
Glenn
I appreciate it, but I had a different kind of grinder. Not the thin blade one he had. I did it off the truck. First I separated the CV shaft from the Output shaft with a reciprocating saw using a carbide blade. Kind of the same principle he used in the video, but with a bigger / different...
Well… I got the CV shaft and Output Shaft separated today. Lots of time with the grinder. Output shaft is toast. I’m going to have to rebuild it. But I cleaned it up and put it back on the truck without the CV shaft today so at least it’s drivable now (3wd). Now I need to find a good...
Yep. I found rebuild kits, but if I can't get the actual unit separated from the CV shaft, the rebuild kit won't do me much good. I was looking for the entire part - assembled. Looks like I may have to find a way to cut the old shaft off, and then rebuild with one of those kits.
Mopar eStore has a pop up that says:
Not for Sale. No Longer Available For Purchase
Ever? Like no longer manufactured ever again? That's just nuts if that's the case.
