Crap, I looked at a Cosworth Vega on a dealers lot to buy several years ago....maybe more than several. It was brand new. One of the cool cars I've considered buying over the years that got away. Best I remember, it was over a year old and they were having trouble giving it away. My goodness...
I have a 2021 Ecodiesel with 3.92s and 295/70-18s.....not quite a 35" tire but close. The first 6000 miles I averaged 24.5 hand calc'd. The first 2 tanks with the new tires and wheels I've averaged 23 mpg corrected for tire size. I lost about 1.5 mpg....well worth the change for me.
A local shop ordered a set of these for me but with 0 offset.....they did not fit. The wheel would not turn due to caliper interference. Ended up withFuel Grapplers:
They work well with 0 offset. Sadly, they have a different bronze center, that I did not notice, and they do not look as...
Your response tells anyone who understands gear ratios and performance in general that you are a clueless internet troll. Your linked reference confirms that fact.
A 2.93 ratio is higher than 3.92. It always has been and always will be.
You mean "high" effect five gearing don't you? Small number gear ratios are high gears and larger number gear ratios are low gears. 2.93 is a high or tall ratio.
Will be in town tomorrow to pick it up and then at Horn Rapids RV for a few days to work out the "new trailer" bugs. You'll have to come out for a visit!
A really good post with great information except.......and I hate open a can of worms, but....
A final drive ratio of 18.46 is not "higher" than 15.12. Gear ratios that are numerically greater are "lower" gears. A lower numerically ratio is a "higher or taller" gear. As in the above quite...
Tire manufacturers have tables/charts that give you max tire loading for a given pressure. As long as you are at or above this recommended pressure for your load, you will not damage your tires. I believe your thoughts on contact patch affecting handling, is spot on.
I have 285/75-18s on mine with 3.21. These tires are heavier and 8% larger than stock .so they do affect performance....how much is not really measureable in my world. The truch has plenty of power for a daily driver. The low first gear in the 8 speed really covers up the loss of low end from...
285/75-18 Falken Wildpeak AT-3ws ox stock Laramies 18" wheels. They have a very slight rub on the entry/exit and aero level , but seem fine otherwise.
Crap, I can't read very well I guess.....you wanted stock size....sorry.
I traded my 2500 for this limited last week due to health issues. I am a believer in tall narrow tires for off road useage, so I traded the stock 20s for 18s from a Laramie. I kept the 285/75-18 Falken Wildpeak AT-3ws that I had from the 2500 and had them put on the new truck.
They pretty...
