    2019 Ecodiesel testing

People don't seem to realize the EGR issues aren't unique to the Ecodiesel, all modern diesel face the same problems with EGR as you pointed out. That said, if we are lucky we'll see Cummins next gen approach which eliminates EGR...

    LED lighting available on Tradesman?

I honestly think the Tradesman front end might be my favorite of them all. I hope the Big Horn is the same grille just chromed out. Kinda surprised at the lights as well. I know fleet guys prefer halogens just because they are cheaper to replace.

2019 Ram 1500 have diesel available?

I'm not quite sure how you can sit there and make this assumption "that sounded like you were defending the engine design and blaming consumers for not using their trucks properly" and then simultaneously say I'm replying to things nobody argued. I stated an observation garnered from all the...

2019 Ram 1500 have diesel available?

I'm not denying there is AN issue but even then, Ram was putting out around 8000 Ecodiesels a month and with 215 failing at peak thats only 2% of production engines with an issue. I think we'd all agree that is high, but you read threads like this and you'd think you had a 50/50 shot at failure...

    New badges spotted

They are hit or miss but man do I love mine, I really can't imagine going back to a 15mpg Hemi. I'm confident they'll work out the bottom end issues which are really the only big unknown, the rest of the problems are fairly easy to remedy.

    New badges spotted

Nothing major but still interesting to see:

    New Wide Shoes

How's the clearance to the upper a-arm? That's the real determining factor on width typically.

Is this 2020 Ram Power Wagon rendering previewing the new HD?

I don't understand why you are leaning toward them using the old cab, none of the pics have been convincing of that, and it makes no logical sense. The 5th gen cab would have been designed with all the HD driveline clearance requirements in mind already. If they wanted to adapt that cab to the...

Rumor: Ram to put 6’4 Rambox bed into production this fall

Safe to say these beds will be shared with the new HD trucks so the timing makes sense based on the rumored production ramp up coming early next year for them.

2019 Ram 1500 have diesel available?

Coolant in oil has nothing to with the heads on these engines, the oil cooler itself has a gasket that can fail and cross contaminate. Got any. numbers to back that claim up of more failures? I highly doubt they exceed the number of Hemi header bolt failures.

2019 Ram 1500 have diesel available?

It's not, it's how most Euro spec diesels are done and is tried and true.

    Bedding of brakes

Thanks, figured it was a C7 thing. Definitely not necessary on the Ram though.

    Bedding of brakes

This is closer to the process I've seen outlined everywhere. I just did new EBC yellow stuff pads and rotors on my '14 Ram and the process was ~5 stops from 35-40mph at a firm but not overly aggressive rate. Then 5 stops from 60mph at a very aggressive but not triggering the ABS rate. Then let...

2019 Ram 1500 have diesel available?

No, I'm saying if you break in your engine and continuously operate under certain repeatable conditions and then suddenly stress it in a way that the way it's never operated under you can certainly spin a bearing. But if you want to oversimplify what I posted and respond to that go ahead and...

2019 Ram 1500 have diesel available?

Everything I've read and in talking to other owners (I have one myself) it seems to come down to how you break the truck in. There is one guy who managed to blow 2 motors in a row.. when asked how he drove he said like a grandma. It really seems like if you take it easy on your engine then...

    12" Uconnect Reset?

On the last gen you could reboot the system by pressing in the tune and volume knobs simultaneously for around 10 seconds until the screen turned off. I have to reboot mine about once a month it seems. I'd imagine they kept it the same on these. Somewhere within the settings menu of the...

    2019 Changes (via Allpar)

"Starting in 2019, the VM 3-liter V6 will have a new turbocharger with a low-friction bearing, low-friction pistons, a new injector nozzle, new piston bowl, and glow plugs with integrated combustion pressure sensors, to reduce emissions and increase efficiency."...

SPIED: Ram 2500HD Models Including Regular Cab Models

Looks like the headlights are taller than on new 1500, and the grille designs are the same but the openings on the grille aligned to the headlights are much taller as well.

Considering 2018 Ram Laramie Crew Diesel

Regens will happen when you are cruising at steady speed for a while, so it wouldn't likely start in that scenario. You will get a message on the dash telling you how full the filter is. If you turn off the truck an interrupt the regen it will just resume the next time you drive so as long as...

Considering 2018 Ram Laramie Crew Diesel

The Ecodiesel is meant to be driven in all conditions so you don't have to worry about the common perceptions like city driving is bad for it. Granted, the engine will be more prone to regens, but these will largely go unnoticed to you. The biggest appeal is the mileage, if you are only...
