This is actually a great point and very helpful. Besides the looks (which I probably don't need to care about much anyways because let's face it, I am getting older!), I keep thinking "what if I need to haul a refrigerator or some dirt or something"? Then I think back the last 20 years or...
Luckily I didn't forget the saw! Seriously though, yeah I used to put it in the SUV with one side of the 60/40 seats folded down and it would fit. But I got this tree in the woods anyways so it wasn't bailed. I am sure I could have tied it up to fit under a tonneau, but I was just giving that as...
Good point about the dog too, I forgot about that. We will get one someday and there won't be much room in the backseat for it with the kids. Are there any features you recommend in one that is good for a dog?
As far as removing it, I just assumed it was difficult to remove but it is good to...
I have been holding off on a cap because I do like how a truck looks without one, but this past week traveling for Thanksgiving made things more clear. Here we have this nice truck and instead of just being able to throw everything in the back like we used to with our SUV, I had to stack all...
That is a nice looking cap. Which Leer is it?
Good points about the height of the bed too. I can't imagine getting anything heavy up in there. It would be much easier to rent a little trailer that is low to the ground if I needed to haul a refrigerator or something like that. I guess when I...
These are all great points. I am also only 5'6" so I can't reach over the sides either. I do like the idea of the rollup tonneau as if you are going to the grocery store or going on vacation, bags and luggage could easily fit under it and if you need something taller, it rolls up easily. But...
That is actually something I didn't think of. We don't have a dog yet but plan to get one eventually. I know many dogs ride up in the cab but with 2 kids in the back seat, it might get a little crowded with a big dog in there too. When I was a kid, the dog seemed to be very happy laying in...
Yes...definitely a good point. They do look much better without! I guess there are some that look nicer and more sleek than others, but overall still look nicer without. Decisions...decisions.....
I guess this is just an observation. I have had to borrow my dad's trucks in the past and he has always had caps on them. I can think of one or two times where I needed some gravel and thought it would have been nice to have an open bed so it could have just been dumped in there, but the...
I noticed a couple of Truxedo's: The Lo Pro and the Truxport. Looks like the Lo Pro has the track that sits inside of the bed rails and the Truxport sits on top of them. Any thoughts on the two styles? Seems like the one inside would be more out of the way, but it is a little more expensive.
You guys are almost talking me into a hard roll up one! I better not though...that is a lot of money and probably an overkill to have it sitting in the garage 90% of the time. I can definitely see how a tri fold would be nice especially if you have to open and close it all the time, such as to...
That's a good point about security. I guess the only time I may have stuff back there would be if I made a stop on the way home from the store or a stop at a restaurant or something while on a trip with the luggage back there, but security is probably more important for people that leave it...
I know there are lots of threads buried in here about this, but thought I'd get some updated opinions. First of all, I may possibly get a topper someday because I am used to having large covered storage like that, but for now, I just want something to keep the bed covered and because of that, I...
I appreciate your .02 and .03! I think I am overly cautious as well especially with my family being involved. It just kind of hit me recently that I am driving a 20 year old truck and while I take care of it and feel it is safe, part of it just doesn't feel "as safe" anymore as a new one so I...
I think you guys make great points and I am probably in a good situation where I can choose a truck now rather than have to just make what I have work. It does sound nice to not have to worry about what I can load in the truck or shift stuff around in the trailer to distribute weight. From my...
I am glad you mentioned the fuel tank because I didn't think of that. That must be annoying to have to refuel every couple hundred miles.
When you say it is not white knuckle but not comfortable, would a 2500 make things more comfortable? I have never pulled a trailer that long or that tall...
That's a great point. I was trying to think of the disadvantage of a 2500 and MPG is the major one but with little usage, it should be pretty negligible. The ride is also probably a lot better than the 20 year old suspension I am used to!
