I usually ride my bike, but here are some advantages of trailering:
-If you're going to spend a few nights, it's nice to be able to haul more clothes & essentials. Especially if you're bringing the Mrs.
-Gives you a place to protect your bike if you run into bad weather (like high winds & hail)...
I owned a 2019 with 3.21s, and now I own a 2021 with 3.92s. Everything else on the trucks are virtually the same. I'm getting about 1 mpg less with the 3.92s. I like the way the 3.92 pulls my boat, and I don't miss the 3.21s always shifting down to 7th gear on mild highway inclines.
I didn't have the original tires on long enough to determine if the mpg changed any. I made the same tire swap on my previous 2019 Ram so I when I got my 2021 I switched them out right away. The ride quality with the Michelin Defenders is great.
I've got a 3.92 rear end, so I don't think the mileage will be any worse. Keep in mind these are highway tires, not heavier off-road tires some owners upsize to. I was hoping my mpg would improve slightly since my effective axle ratio is now 3.80.
I put 275/60 R20 on my Laramie (Michelin Defenders). The fit is fine and they fill the wheel well better than the stock 55 series tires. A minor added benefit is that I theoretically changed my rear end from a 3.92 to 3.80 due to a tire that is 3% taller. I still wish RAM offered the 3.55...
Mark down another happy customer working with Aaron at MarkDodge. I purchased a Laramie Southwest Edition at approximately $9K below MSRP. They didn't have the color I wanted, so Aaron traded trucks with another dealer to get one in Maximum Steel for me. I flew down from Iowa to pick it up...
That was the main reason I added it... for noise. I think it did help with road noise.
It was tight fit. I used a hammer handle to get it pushed up into place. If you do give it a try don't buy a noodle that's like 5" in diameter, but one of the smaller ones with about a 2" diameter. It's...
My truck did not have the horizontal seal between the bed and cab. Knowing Ram discontinued including them, I improvised and purchased a swimming pool noodle (about 5' long with a 2" diameter), and wedged that between the cab and bed. I just laid underneath the truck and pushed it in place...
I was getting pretty nervous about the MPG when I first got my truck in January, but I'm happy to report that the MPG did show a nice improvement once I rolled up to 6,000 to 8,000 miles. Just feels like my drivetrain took that long to loosen up.
On my way to work each morning there is a...
