Thanks everyone for the brainstorming. I'll take the truck in for service in a few months and run the diagnostic. Maybe something will surface and I'll update this forum. In the meantime, if it grenades, I just hope it's within an easy tow of a Ram dealer and not in the mountains somewhere!
Interesting - I had no idea our Hemis had this feature! Just googled it and read this article: What Is Hemi MDS?
According to the article, shutting down the 4 cylinders happens sequentially per revolution so at highway speeds it would feel like it happened all at once. But wouldn't I feel it...
I'll have the shop run a diagnostic next time I take it in. I've got the 8 year MOPAR extended warranty on it...so part of me just wants to ignore it rather than chase gremlins!
BTW, I'm always in 2WD when on the highway (obviously). Most of the time it happens, cruise control is activated but it also happens without cruise control. Other than resetting the computer and changing out the trans fluid, I can't think of anything else I can try.
Searching the forum, there's lots of complaints about transmission clunks or thunks when slowing down to a stop or getting off the line. I have the opposite problem - it only happens at steady highway speeds.
I do a lot of long roadtrips in my truck (2019 limited, 5.7 hemi, bone stock) and...
Exactly - Autonation quoted $4100 for a 8/100k with a $100 deductible, so figure probably $2500 in profit margin. I specifically asked for a Mopar one when I called, they called me back with the Autonation and I asked her for Mopar again...never called me back. You'd think that they'd at least...
Just wanted to send out a thank you to the folks on this forum. I recently moved back to the US after many years overseas, so wasn't clued up on the extended warranty game. Bought my used Ram at a Buick dealer but got sold a 3rd party warranty.
After reading this chat, I figured out that...
I had no idea! Good to know, thanks for the input.
There's a slight vibration at 78 mph which the tire shop can't balance out, they reckon it's something to do with the plastidip not being evenly applied.
I'll get new ones so I don't have to unmount the tires on the 22s. Better not get a flat during the winter - would be interesting trying to get home on 3 blizzaks and a 22" goodyear!
Thanks everybody - just bought a set of the 18" Bighorn 5 spokes off ebay, $295 plus shipping. Costco's doing a good deal on Blizzaks, $150 off.

I'm in the seattle area. I bought my truck used and it came with a set of OEM 22s, so I'm looking for 18s for winter duty running up to the ski slopes every weekend.
Interesting aside - the previous owner had the OEM rims plasti-dipped black instead of powdercoated or painted. First time I'd...
First post to this forum. Great resource reading everybody's input. I've got a basic question that I've searched the forum for but didn't see an answer: will any/all OEM 18" wheels for 5th gen Rams work for any trim level truck? I've read that aftermarket 18"s can be tight and need a bit of...
