Not so worried about the springs, more about the seals. People on the taco forum from salt states said it only took one winter for them to start leaking. I can hose the springs down with fluid film to slow down the cancer 😆
I was really getting interested in the 6112 and 5160 bilstein kit, but then I started looking up their winter performance. They get rusty fast and start leaking with their first winter Temps from what I read. Since I'm from Minnesota I'm gonna eliminate them from my options.
Just called BDS. The rep I spoke to said the 3" 2.5 elite coilover lift WILL work for the ED 1500s. He said it's when you go higher than 3 that issues can occur. He said you don't need a higher lb spring either, so I would imagine the cheaper 2.0 CO lifts would work fine also.
I looked and saw they came with a spring. They don't list the 6112 as being compatible on the bilstein website though. We're you able to special order them with the higher lb spring?
No, was waiting for some companies to ok their lift for the ED. From my emails with carli and chats with rough country about their coilovers, the main reason they don't recommend is the spring rate for the coilovers. Been debating on building my own kit. Fox 2.5 struts with 600lb springs, icon...
Are those the +1 or -12 versions. I don't want the Tires to poke out further than flush with he oem fender flares, but want to be sure the +1 fit over the brakes...
I wish some engineering company would come out with a billet filter housing piece for this year, so we could use the filters from the previous years. It's absurd they can't make an oil filter that doesn't need to come with that plastic housing every oil change
Djevox, what's the filter brand you use? I got a Doc's diesel one to try out, they look identical to the mopar filters, but are 35.99 instead of 47.99. I have 420 miles on her bow, going to do first change at 1k.
Do you remember the company that's doing the deletes in Canada? I'm only 8 hours...
That may be what I end up running if I can find it around. I'm an amsoil preffered sucker for my hemi, so I'm debating on using their euro oil even though it doesn't say ms 1299 or whatever that code is. If your running a good 5w40 synthetic, you wouldn't think they would fight you too bad if...
Thanks for all the information fellas. Going to order a 3.92 geared, billet silver ecodiesel tomorrow. I think it will be worth the slightly less mpg of those gears when I switch to the bigger/heavier tires and level/coilover lift.
Don't think I'll do the Derringer, if I do any of that...
Yikes, that's a huge hit to mpg. According to one of those transmission calculators, in 8th it should be doing 1950 rpm at 75 with 34" tires and 3.92 gears. That's about 200 less than the hemi at that speed with 3 92 and stock tires.
Been trying to find the lightest combo I can, firestone...
