Upgrade brake pads for towing duty?

I always bed new pads/rotors using a series of uses going something like this - https://www.powerstop.com/brake-pad-break-in-procedure/ I do a lot of brake work, especially on our track cars, and my old brakes were not glazed. OE just uses a pad compound with a poor coefficient of friction and...

Upgrade brake pads for towing duty?

Just the fronts, and bought the pieces here - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09FNZ8VPY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I do my own brake work and probably do 4-5 brake jobs a year between our track cars and daily drivers.

Upgrade brake pads for towing duty?

Upgraded to R1 Concepts rotors and ceramic pads and much better initial bite. Friction is also nice and linear with harder pedal application versus the stock pads which wouldn't bite much harder no matter how much pedal pressure I gave them. OE pads wouldn't get into ABS on a panic stop, where...

Cover works w/ Rambox yet not intrude bed space?

I went with the Gator HR1 for just those reasons. I’ve had it on for about 18 months now and love it. https://gatorcovers.com/p/gator-hr1-tonneau-cover/

Upgrade brake pads for towing duty?

Trailer brakes are dialed up quite a bit, but I’m not very impressed with the truck’s brakes even without the trailer. Just not much bite to these pads.

    Folding Mirrors 2019 Ram 1500

Definitely NOT just a 2019 problem since my 2020 Rebel has the same issue (passenger won’t deploy and driver won’t move either way). Both have had jerky movement since day 1. Mine also is now throwing a CEL code for a short in the driver mirror circuit, so now I’ve got that starring me in the...

Upgrade brake pads for towing duty?

Not real impressed with the initial bite of the OE pads on my Rebel when I’ve got the car hauler behind it, and wondered what people were using to improve the grab? Thanks

    Fuel cutoff with hard bumps

Did some more poking around and saw that the plastic molded case on my Pulsar programmer had separated on 2 corners, so I pulled it off and truck seems to run smoother and I can't get the stall to recur. Got my fingers crossed it was that simple. Still can't figure out how that would induce...

Full exhaust system vs Muffler swap.

Can't believe no one mentioned the Carven Competitor series. I put the cut & clamp muffler replacement on mine and love it. A bit of a bark on cold starts, but I don't have a close neighbor to complain. It helps that I also run the Edge Pulsar allows me to get rid of the MDS drone.

    Fuel cutoff with hard bumps

Understand, unfortunately both times I'd just filled the tank and it was about 95% full. Pretty much to the point that I can't trust the truck any more to go off pavement now (even with AAA, towing offroad costs $$s). Guess it's time to trade this one for a 2021/2022 if I can';t find the...

    Fuel cutoff with hard bumps

It varied. Some of it was light and would smooth out above 40, but other places were really washed out and I'd have to slow to 25 or so. My Rebel handled it all extremely well last year with the air suspension; it was actually the best vehicle I've had on that road in the last 25 years or so.

    Fuel cutoff with hard bumps

They pulled the tank to replace the fuel pump, so anything foreign would've been found when they flushed it out. I had the same idea on electrical, but can't think of anything other than fuel pump circuit that might open/short without throwing some type of code.

    Fuel cutoff with hard bumps

Looking for ideas from some of y'all here. 2020 Rebel w/5.7 non-etorque, 16,000 miles. I was on vacation driving on a remote fire road in the Colorado mountains when I hit a nasty patch of washboard road causing my truck's engine to stumble and stall like it was starving for fuel. Engine...

    Tonneau Cover

I've been really happy with the Gator HR1 rollup cover on my Rebel. Still have access to the full bed, but the stiffeners make it function as a hard cover when it's on. And here is zero interference with my Ramboxes too.

    Engine Break In

Break in concerns on a production engine are overkill. By the time a truck makes it to you at the dealership, it's normally been run, idled, and launched a time or two. Between the lot monkeys and the test drivers, you're not getting a pristine engine to start with. I drive mine pretty hard from...

Ram releases 2019 Ram 1500 payload and towing charts

Gotta be the shocks, because a 2500 Tradesman similarly equipped to the 2500 PW is only 300# lighter, but it has twice the payload rating and 6,000# higher tow rating for the same engine/tranny/diff ratio.

Ram releases 2019 Ram 1500 payload and towing charts

The charts can be quite revealing in some cases too. When I was looking for a new truck I was split between a new Rebel 1500 and a Powerwagon 2500. Then I compared load and tow ratings for both and was surprised that the 2500 PW had a lower load and tow rating than the 1500 Rebel. It's amazing...

Update: DO NOT BUY RAM WITH RAMBOX - Warping and Alignment Issue with 2019 Rams

Wonder if the after market will come up with a good solution for these? Maybe Tuffy will create a nice steel replacement option that people could paint to match.
