Uniden R3 is very good (and the unit I have) I also use in combination with Waze. For me it's about information gathering to make decisions since no detector or app is going to make you immune to the risk :)
The other culprit on noise for me that sounded like it was coming from the door was actually the trim piece on the bottom of the driver seat and passenger seats. Little piece of foam got rid of it between the trim piece and seat before clipping it back in did the trick.
Yes, you will need that inner piece to be able to attach the new wheel liner. What you are separating is the "half" wheel liner from the factory trim piece, I assume it is similar on the Rebel although mine is a Laramie. I drilled them out similar to what he does, very quick.
Here's what I ordered:
MOPAR 68275910AB Inner Fender Splash Shield
MOPAR 68275911AB Inner Fender Splash Shield
MOPAR 6510175AA Screw
All in with shipping was around $130
I think the screw @jordan2929 mentioned will also work but the 6510175AA was an exact match for the ones that are removed...
I had mine sprayed in for like $400 from a local shop (that the dealer recommended and uses for their work) They did fantastic work including dropping over the edges and the tailgate
