33' TT one last pull review post before sale. Hensley hitch, Timbergrove

Page 4 of the installation PDF "Note: Ram Truck owners please reference the Trailer Towing section of your vehicle owner’s manual for proper hitch set-up instructions. Also, it is recommended for optimal towing performance to set the ball height 2” higher than the top the trailer coupler."

    Towing my 32' travel trailer

Agreed, when I got my Hensley I called to ask about the payload hit, they explained it the same way.

33' TT one last pull review post before sale. Hensley hitch, Timbergrove

I left a few people hanging last fall after my review and mentioning that I was going to get a Hensley for the 2020 season. Go look at this post for my 11hr pull to Ocean City review https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/new-truck-new-travel-trailer-first-tow-review.12127/ 2019 Setup. Blue...

    Rear Support

+1 for Timbergrove, simple clean and functional kit. I've used bags for years for all sorts of different reasons. With the saggy rear end of the Gen 4 and Gen 5 something as simple as a open deck car trailer with my JKU on it can cause more sag than I'm happy with. Nice to level things back...

"Toy" vehicle comparison - Jeep or SxS

I vote Jeep, I've got a 16 JKU it's a summer toy for me. Never had a roof or door on other then when it's in winter storage. Even after the JL arrived the JK's still continue to hold their value. I've had a SXS and found myself willing to do dumb things more often than I ever did in the jeep...

Best wdh for the average family with a TT

Used a Equalizer with my 29' trailer for 5 years. Zero complaints. Used a Blue Ox with my new trailer for 7 days and hated nearly everything about it after the equalizer. Purchased a Hensley but due to covid it's still sitting in the boxes and the trailer in the storage yard.

Air Bag Reviews (Timber Grove or others?)

I went with the Air lift 1000 kit when I first got my Ram. After two leaking bags ( neither replaced under warranty) in 8 months I gave up and installed some Timbergroves. I had some issues with the Canadian vendor of the Timber Groves they shipped me the Ram Classic kit to start and then...

    towing, some questions.

Did you have to raise the trailer while connected to the truck to get the bars in place? I had a similar equalizer and if you didn't raise it up it was very hard to get the bars in place due to the tension. I'd go back over your installation 4000lbs isn't a lot for a WDH so the trailer should...

    Travel Trailer Recommendations

My TT is 10K lbs 34' in length we pulled it across New York and PA to the Maryland shore last year. No real issues other than getting short of fuel at one point and when it got REALLY windy on the way back the traction control on the truck kept freaking out. Our previous trailer was 29' in...

    Tow mirrors

32' Travel trailer. I have a 19 sport with factory PW folding, heated mirrors. I've never found that I missed something I just keep them turned out so I can see down the side of the trailer.

    Tow mirrors

They won't, I looked into changing mine when I got it last year. The PW folding are actually pretty good I've never felt like I've needed more towing my trailer.

new toy hauler, first tow home delayed to adjust for immense tongue weight

Check out the Anderson WD hitch, a friend of mine uses one for his horse trailer that has a battery box at the front similar to yours. I'd also suggest you put air bags in like the AirRide 1000 system. It's very basic and will help level the truck even with the WD on. It does not increase...

Where do you plan to tow?

Heading south to Ocean City MD in July again but this year we're leaving the trailer in OC and coming back for it in August and continuing for a week in the NC Outerbanks. All told it will be a 2300km trip. Anything else will be sort stuff to Watkins Glen for some racing.

Advice on what what Blue Ox SwayPro WDH to start with

I used a Blue OX this year and didn't really like it. I used an Equalizer for the previous 4 seasons and much preferred it. I never seemed to find a chain link which gave me the sway mitigation I was used to with the Equalizer. Using a breaker bar and socket did make the tensioning of the...

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

I'll do a post when I get it all setup and tested in the spring. I don't expect to try it until April but I got the hitch a week ago. Setup doesn't look any more complicated than either the Equalizer or Blue Ox I've used in the past.

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

I pulled my JKU into storage this past fall on a U-haul trailer. It was horrendous, pulled worse than my camper.

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

That's the voice of experience, I agree 100%. My Ford pulls that tailer with almost no noise, no fuss at all. My dodge makes some noise, you listen to the Hemi sing from time to time when climbing but it's got more than enough power. I bought the diesel when we had a larger toy hauler my...

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

It's not that bad, my 2014 F350 SD diesel Ford gets about the same pulling the same weight. It did make for some extra stops to keep the tank above 1/4 tank, my rule when the kids are with me.

The little things that make a big difference

Looks great! I'm so glad my sport came that way from the factory.

How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

Trailer was 8480 last time I took it over the scales. I added bags and used a Blue OX WD Sway setup with 14k bars last year which was disappointing when it got windy. I purchased a Hensley Arrow for the upcoming season.
