Where did you find aftermarket replacements for that piece? I'd be happy to take a chance, just to get my Ram back on the road. At this point, I'm tempted to turn my 4x4 into a 2wd just to be able to drive it again. Lucky to have my son's Toyota Camry to go back and forth to work, but when...
I gave up on separating the CV shaft from the Differential Output Shaft and removed the whole thing in one piece. Even if I get them separated, I have a good feeling the teeth on the Differential Output shaft are worn / rusty, so I just figured I’d buy a whole replacement Output Shaft to go...
My upper ball joint nut separated from the attached washer. It’s beveled into the washer so it’s attached together. I wanted to at least replace that one, and figured while I’m at it… just do all three on each side.
I was told not to use an impact when putting on the new half shaft nut, as it...
Well… I’m making headway. I ordered new C clips to replace the ones on the shafts, greased it up lightly and popped the drivers side on today.
Discovered when I was checking torque specs for reattaching the upper / lower ball joints and tie rod that you aren’t supposed to reuse the...
I tackled the CV axle / front hub bearing change today. Instructions were fairly straightforward. Got to the point that I needed to remove the CV axle from the passenger side and it’s not coming off. I squirted Kroil into the CV axle splines with a syringe and in no time it was moving and...
Changed out my sway bar bushings today. Searched the site and found torque specs ranging from 21 to 63 ft lbs, along with references to two to four ugga tugga’s. 😆 Anyone know actual factory specs? I went with 30 for now. Had to go get a burger, so it had to get torqued to something.
Well… I get to test their return policy. One hub was fine. The other was damaged. The sensor wire was cracked at a 90 degree angle right where it enters the hub. So I returned it today. So gotta keep the fingers crossed this turns out well…
Bit of a rant. Gotta get this off my chest, because I just feel like whining a little this evening. 😆
On 3/9/25, I placed my order for two Axle Half Shaft, Remanufactured, from Mopar.com National eStore. Today, I get a notice that my order was cancelled. No explanation as to why. Just that...
Sounds like Rock Auto likes Ram truck people..... I think I'll be just fine, seeing all the happy buyers on this forum. Thanks for the responses. Makes me feel better about my first purchase with them.
I needed new front wheel bearings / hubs. Mopar would have been over $800 for both sides. Rock Auto was about $575. I have never used them before, but people on here seemed to love them, so I took the chance. I probably shouldn't have checked their reviews before ordering, because it was a...
I used mine on a 2019 Ram 1500 4x4, and until the last oil change, it was working just fine. I just had to move slowly while moving it through the maze to get it clear and then dumped into the oil drain pan. But last oil change, I must have been in a rush, and I got oil everywhere. Geez. I...
I went back into the site and for some reason, the shipping dropped drastically when I changed dealers to one in North Carolina. I ordered the shafts and the shipping was only about $30. So I have them on order. Sure hope the site was correct in saying they fit both left and right side.
All...
I’m fairly mechanically inclined. Not trying to sound more experienced than I am. Figuring out how things work is just something I’ve been good at since a young age. I’ve made mistakes, and learned from them. But I can generally judge my limitations very well. Changing out the struts is...
They seemed like a good deal until I realized they add a $50 core charge, and I'm responsible for return shipping, and shipping to me is $108. Maybe I'll just buy locally at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Their brand is "Precision". Don't know anything about them, but it comes out cheaper to buy local...
It's a daily driver. I seldom ever even use 4wd, and when I do, I'm just trying to get past some muddy areas without getting stuck when I'm out hunting, or going up a slippery boat ramp.
I need to replace my CV shafts. They are clicking - especially the passenger side. When I shake the left one by hand underneath the truck near the transfer case, I can see quite a bit of movement where it connects to the transfer case, and it makes a clunking noise there. I priced CV shafts...
I'm looking to replace my factory front struts. I don't want a lift. I'm not a off-roader. This is my daily driver truck that I use for hunting / towing a boat. I saw several ads and suggestions for Bilstein B8 5100's, using stock springs. But I don't have access to a spring compressor, and...
Finally got around to changing them this week at 103K miles. The spark plug tool mentioned worked great for all but two plugs. No way to get it to fit the two right near the brake booster. I had to put a spark plug socket in the hole, then attach a short extension, then a swivel adapter, and...
