    Hemi s Back

You're not understanding a simple concept: the 5.7 has the duty cycle to be in a 2500. That's the attraction of the NA hemi. The hurricane does not have the duty cycle to do heavy duty. It doesn't matter that the 1500 isn't a HD truck, many of use work the crap out of them, also by running...

Incorrect again. The 6.4 SRT has 485 hp and 475 lb/ft of torque.

    Hemi s Back

Your claim was that hemi guys "poo pooing" the hurricane are asking for more power. I told you "yes", but not just "more power", specifically NA v8 power. I'm not asking for the super charged hemi that puts out 700+ hp, because I'm not after max HP. I'm after a bump in NA, v8 power.

Next you'll tell me grass is green. Surprise. No. The 5.7 was offered along side the 6.4 Couldn't tell you, I don't know anything about that engine. The 6.2 that comes stock in GM trucks is an aluminum block. The current recall has nothing to do with the engine design, they have a...

    Hemi s Back

The hemi's age combined with the ZF 8 speed was an attraction for me. A extremely mature engine/drivetrain, with all the pros and cons well documented and sorted, lots of aftermarket support, every mechanic and their uncle has experience with them (so getting stuck in BFN towing my trailer I'm...

    Hemi s Back

Note: the 6.4 NA, not the 6.2 super charged variants that are making well north of whatever measly numbers the HO is making. It's almost like there is a reason and consistently to our logic? 🤷‍♂️

It's repeated because it's true. All the heavy duty gas engines are iron block, including GMs. And yes, the 5.7 hemi is the only gas engine in the half ton segment that was used and abused for years in the heavy duty segment. Your comment about the 6.2 is extremely disingenuous, but you knew...

    Hemi s Back

Honestly, you read that statement from him and you know he's just looking to justify his own purchase. My truck is literally a rocket compared to everything I've owned in the past, which were 150hp (GM 3100), 200 hp (GM 3800), and about 300 hp (Pentastar in a GC). Merging on a freeway? Don't...

    Hemi s Back

The hurricanes don't have the duty cycle of an iron block NA v8. This is why last year they kept the 6.4 in the 2500 with "only" 410 hp, and why they didn't put the HO or even the SO in the 2500. Some of you only see one thing: 0-60. That's fine, that's your preference, but a lot of guys know...

Ram resurrects Hemi engine - Can I get a swap?

    Yeah, thought so. 🙄

Ram resurrects Hemi engine - Can I get a swap?

The hemi cams are weak. This is not up for debate, there are thousands of reports of ground cam lobs and busted lifters. If you look at the aftermarket, they pretty much all offer billet cams. You can google this stuff in like 10 seconds so how you got this wrong is beyond me. And no I'm not...

The HEMI V8 Is Back: 2026 Ram 1500 Brings Power and Choice

Your prediction is more reasonable, but why not shoot for something great.... like a completely new higher power v8 for 2026? One can dream.

The HEMI V8 Is Back: 2026 Ram 1500 Brings Power and Choice

The mob has spoken, and we want v8s. 🤷‍♂️ It's quite likely that they already have a next gen v8 in the pipeline, this was already the case before they killed the hemi. But they have to do something to prop up sales, the hemi is there, on the shelf, and still competitive 20 years after it was...

The HEMI V8 Is Back: 2026 Ram 1500 Brings Power and Choice

Agreed. As I said I disabled mine, but it has nothing to do with cam failures.

The HEMI V8 Is Back: 2026 Ram 1500 Brings Power and Choice

I'm not a fan of it, I disabled mine. Completely different issues. They both have displacement on demand systems, but you may as well claim that the reason they're failing is because they're both v8's. Correlation != causation. Disabling MDS does nothing to mitigate this. Engines that come...

Ram resurrects Hemi engine - Can I get a swap?

The issue is poor hardening/materials, they were orginally designed to have billet cams but cheaped out in production. Billet cams are machined from a solid block, they are much harder. Hemi's just have surface hardening, and once that outside layer is degraded its came over. The one scientific...

The HEMI V8 Is Back: 2026 Ram 1500 Brings Power and Choice

No. What's crazy is Ram having the 392 on the shelf and sticking it literally anything with wheels, EXCEPT for the ram 1500. Yeah, no.

Ram resurrects Hemi engine - Can I get a swap?

Oh dear. This "MDS" myth just won't die will it. It's not an MDS issue. It's a parts/manufacturing issue which also seems to be affecting the pentastar to some extent. There are no guarantees with FCA's history that your hurricane doesn't also start eating cams.

The HEMI V8 Is Back: 2026 Ram 1500 Brings Power and Choice

This isn't due to MDS. 6.4 has the same "issues" as the 5.7, no better, no worse. You have a very low probability of getting lifter/cam issues. I have less than 0 interest in a small high strung turbo. A beefy NA v8 with extra power for towing? Sign me up! 6.4 is better than the 5.7 Ok...
