I think there's enough "play" in the single mount point of the piston in the top plate to allow for a slight change in angle - in theory, as the normal suspension articulates up and down, there will be movement and angle changes.
But you can put the top-hat on anyway you want, I don't think they have any angle to them and they don't have any orientation marks. I'll mic them when I get home (uninstalled), but I know they are machined parallel. There are three studs, and you can orient the top-hat three different ways.
How long did you own it for before having the level done? I'm getting the impression you had it done immediately since you're comparing it to another truck, rather than your Ram "before" the level.
Still interesting in knowing what trim and equipment you have.
For a small lift, I don't think this is anything to worry about and probably happens in most lifts where you don't relocate the lower control arm. Since the shock is attached to only the middle of the top plate, there's room for the angles to be a little off. But definitely something to dissuade...
I assume you mean the rough country 2" pre-load spacers? this one: https://www.roughcountry.com/dodge-front-leveling-lift-kit-35400.html
Also, what tire pressures are you running? When you say busy, do you mean you feel every bump but it's stable, or is it wandering too?
One thing I also note in both of the OP's pictures in this thread is how off-center the shock body is inside that coil spring. I've crawled under a few trucks to get part numbers lately, and watched my share of videos, and I don't recall ever seeing anything where the shock wasn't pretty much...
I would think what's causing the side load is the extended length of the unit causing slightly steeper angles to the plane of the upper shock mount area. The shock-to-top plate angles are probably generally 90' in normal, but when lengthened causing lift, the shock is probably canted inward...
Yeah, every company seems to have their own opinion based on what their kits contain, because mopar seems to be the only one that supplies it at only 2". I was looking more for experience of actual owners since so many people have the lifts that feature 2" in the rear. I've never lifted the rear...
I've talked to Rancho and Bilstein a few times now. Rancho said they'll have something very soon, and Bilstein said last quarter of 2019, so I'm guessing that's an error on their site. I'm an aggressive researcher, but I have found that you have to call (or email) these companies to get the info...
Depends on what the definition of "is" is.
Sorry, I mean depends on what the definition of "mild" is. Do you want to maintain a bit of rake? Also make sure you measure your rake so you know what you want to do front-to-back.
If you want to level it, I'd recommend the 2" Motofab or 2" Daystar...
I noticed that RL and RC lift kits don't feature a track bar relocation bracket, but I think at least RL's kit lifts the back 2" - but the Mopar kit has a rear track bar relocation bracket.
Is the bracket recommended?
Hey OP, anything new concerning your truck? Also, don't think you've answered everyone's questions that would help you better determine what's going on. ;)
Can you post a picture of how you are measuring?
I've solidified around here that "on the lot" non-ORP Laramies measure 21.5" (center hub...
Rear shocks should be part number 68262592AC. Build sheet should say "Extra HD Shock Absorbers". Build sheet should also say "North Edition". "North Edition" will be on your window sticker as an option. If you had the Off Road Package, it would say so on your Window Sticker, but you can't have...
^^^This^^^
The ORP with the air suspension really only gives you Extra HD shocks, the air suspension just simulates the 1” lift by having its normal setting set at 1” higher than non-air. But you top out at the same lift whether you have air or non-air.
Personally, it kind of sounds like they jacked up your suspension (or didn't install the spacer properly)
Try switching to a top-hat spacer (mounts on top of shock top and doesn't effect ride) instead of a pre-load spacer (which is what the RC kit is, sits inside which pre-compresses the...
