Cutting in/out returned again this morning, even with my theory of leaving the heat cranked before shutting the truck down.
Going to push hard at the dealer. Either radio and/or camera needs to be replaced NOW.
@RamCares I live in Canada, so I doubt your service can assist. I'll be attending...
So that tells me the dealer knows the intermittent pauses is not a radio issue, rather something else. Based on what everyone is saying on the JL Wrangler forum, I bet it is a camera issue where dealerships are waiting for an official recall from FCA to replace cameras - but no one wants to...
FWIW, I keep a 10mm socket in the centre console for the times I need to disconnect the negative terminal.
As much as I love the truck when its working, this has to be the worst "new car" experience in my life.
UPDATE - POSSIBLE WORK-AROUND
Before reading the update, here are a few tidbits:
1. The issue comes when its cold. This is confirmed by DT RAM 1500 and JL Jeep Wrangler owners.
2. The only way for it to "reset", is to:
a. Wait for the truck to sit for 30mins+ (giving uConnect to restart from...
It was replaced earlier this spring apparently, so timing is relevant since cold weather may have not hit him yet.
Really starting to think some sort of circuit is closed/open when a certain threshold is met in terms of temperature, causing this issue. I’m going to open up the tailgate panel...
I actually thought about this. It has something to do with temperature. Perhaps heat-shrinking the connectors to where the camera is? Or is there some sort of circuit somewhere thats opening/closing when the temperature threshold gets to a certain point?
I also made an observation on the JL...
Yes, same here! First day at 0*C with a frost advisory. Decided to use my remote start to warm-up the truck, and when I got into the truck and pressed the engine start button and powered on the radio, the issue re-appeared. This is after MONTHS of no issues. I checked the radio revisions...
Just an update:
I haven't had the issue since it completely disappeared in April/May. Truthfully, I haven't checked the software version, but I'll make a point to check today. I'm hoping it was a software issue, and not any of the suspicions I had before (cold weather and/or camera related).
Are you running wheel spacers with your stock wheels and 35x12 tires?
I like to keep my stock wheels, and just run larger tires with a lift. I was afraid that the extra width of the larger tires would rub against the UCA.
I haven't had the issue since March, coincidentally with the arrival of warmer weather.
Although, I did notice before (when I was having the issue) that if you attempt to open or lock the door without your keys present, the centre and instrument LCD clusters would light up. Now it doesn't...
Ditto.
Although I know I still have the issue, which still happens, it doesn’t happen at the same frequency as before.
We all know it has something to do with the rear camera (see the JL Wrangler forum links attached to the OP). I’m starting to think it has something to do with the camera and...
Read a lot of threads, and searched as much as I could in the forum and on Google, but couldn't find a solid answer to this.
I'm looking to add a 2" leveling kit (ReadyLift 66-1921) and add 35x12.5 tires onto OEM Rebel wheels.
Questions:
1. Would 35x12.5" tires even fit on the OEM wheels?
-...
That’s really odd. Maybe the battery needed to be completely drained so the radio could do a proper reset of itself, and allow itself to take an update?
It has me wondering with my issues (audio cutting in/out and rear camera lines disappearing - at the same time) that a proper reset of the...
Would you be able to post the TSB here? There is a separate issue where the uConnect audio is cutting in/out, regardless of source (AM/FM/SAT/Bluetooth/etc), where the backup camera guidelines also disappear. It looks like this issue is tied to the backup camera, which could be also tied to this...
UPDATE:
Currently at the dealer for the recall repairs, and brought up the issue with the radio cutting in/out. The technician actually came out and spoke to me, and wanted more clarification. After confirming what the issues were, he came back and said that there was an actual memo from FCA of...
Nothing on my end either. Every time I have the issue I just disconnect and reconnect the negative terminal on the battery. It performs a “soft reset”, only resetting a few things (equalizer, time format, HVAC controls/settings go back to default). Yes it gets tiresome, especially in the frigid...
Holy crap. Just realized something. When the TSB states software revision, they don’t mean “software version”, they mesn “application version”. Open the TSB and scroll down to the instructions on how the tech is supposed to confirm if the system is eligble or not. I’m going to trace back the...
