it would have bypassed the crossover. it may or may not have damaged the tweeter but probably not because you did not throw a bunch of power at them and they are still mid range crossed a little by the amp. i agree the colors can be misleading.

the only speakers i didn't replace were the center dash and the headliner because i disconnected them. i used all metra connectors and i did not change the polarity. i think you should have connected them as intended
