To update my thread, I ended up installing the Bilstein 5100’s on my truck. I used clip position 5 and removed the Motofab 2” leveling spacer. It rides great. I don’t know why one guy said his truck rides so bad after installing the Bilstein shocks. Perhaps his does for some reason. Mine...
When I lowered mine onto the garage floor the first time my front measured 24” from center of hub to bottom of fender flare. I drove it a couple miles and it measured 23.5”. The next day I drove to my farm and back. That is a 70 mile round trip, and it measured 23” . It has stayed at 23”. Not...
Agreed. I’ve made it my whole life without ever needing a pass through socket set. Until this job came up. I’ll probably never use them again so I bought a set from Harbor Freight. Luckily I read about needing them beforehand
That can vary due to equipment difference between trucks. In my case position 5 resulted in the front being a half inch lower than the rear. Although you would think it is perfectly level just by looking
How does the Icon setup ride and handle on road compared to stock? Wondering if you had to give up on road comfort to improve off road performance.
Thanks
I don’t really know how much lift it gave me because I never measured the truck stock. All I know is it is now the exact same height it was when I had the 2” Motofab leveling spacer on. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help and wish I would have measured it stock before installing the Motofab top hat...
It looks great! Any pointers on the install? When do you use the thin 3m tape? My Longhorn came with accent lighting as I am sure your Limited did too but this is outstanding! I must do this to my truck after seeing yours
I have driven the truck less than 100 miles. The only time my truck is off pavement is when on dirt and gravel farm roads. I don’t notice a difference in damping front to back but not sure I would anyway given how I baby the truck
BTW, I now have a set of Motofab 2” top hat leveling spacers for sale cheap. The spacers are actually 1.25 inches thick but they are supposed to give 2” of lift. I guess they do.
I’ll sell them for $25 plus shipping. Been on since July of 2019 about 9,000 miles
I wanted to upgrade the suspension. Originally I was going to try some Icon or Falcons but I read some people saying those were harsh on small slow speed bumps usually found on city streets. Since I am not going off road in my Longhorn I decided to try the Bilstein shocks instead. I may still...
With the Bilstein 5100 circlip in position 5 I have 23” from center of wheel to bottom of wheel well flare directly above. It started out at 24” but settled to 23” after driving 70 miles and hitting a few bumps. This is exactly the same height my truck was at with the Motofab 2” leveling spacer...
Installed Bilstein 5100 on the front of my Longhorn. Removed Motofab 2” leveling spacer. Also changed oil and installed a Fumoto Valve.
May look into an oil filter relocation kit. The filter location sucks on these trucks. Anyone have a recommendation for a filter relocation kit?
Installed the Bilstein 5100 on the front of my Longhorn. Set them in position 5. I removed the Motofab 2” spacers. I didn’t have time to drive it very much today but should tomorrow.
