You are correct sir and the current Durango will be replaced by the new gen three row Grand Cherokee late next year or early 2021 last I heard.

If the outside mirror and back up camera are not enough, all you can do is lower the driver door glass and stick your head out. Some folks have managed to run over themselves with door open and backing up. This is a standard safety feature.

The button for rear window defrost also turns on outside mirror defrost---there is no separate button for outside mirrors.

I just checked the 2019 Ram 2500 build site and the 2500 Longhorn does have a stand alone blind spot and rear cross-path detection option for $595---perhaps this option will be added to the 2020 Longhorn 1500.
