Doing my own test of Jay Leno's Tire and Trim Care vs. Surf City Garage Beyond Black

Sorry guys...had to start over due to "life events". The good kind, not the bad kind. :) Anyway, I just cleaned and treated all four tires this time instead of just two. This way, there is no bias from front to rear tires. Here they are today, right after treatment. Jay Leno on the...

Best accessories and mods under $100

That's a really good buy if someone isn't looking for OEM or name-brand. One thing I've noticed on Amazon is that my "garage" shows the 2020 Ram, and things that I KNOW will fit often show as "will not fit your 2020 Ram", at least according to Amazon. I know that it's just their computer...

What type of hard folding bed covers are you using?

I was down to the Lomax and the Bakflip G2. The price for each at my local dealer was about the same. I really liked the Lomax but the things that swayed me to Bak were: The exposed aluminum edges on the Lomax. Just didn't look as neat/finished to me. That's just my personal preference and...

What's the No. 1 thing that disappointed you the most about your truck ?

I do miss all those things you mentioned about the F150 (had the same Lariat with the 502A package, nicely equipped). Of all of them though, the lack of keypad door access is probably the one I miss the most, for the same reason you mentioned. You could also use it to lock the door even with...

Best accessories and mods under $100

I've seen this on other message boards but didn't see one here. (Sorry if I missed it but didn't come up in the search.) So, for those looking to do some cheap modifications and/or accessorizing, what are the best ones that you've done or heard of for less than $100? As for me, I'm not really...

    Laramie or Limited

Yeah, same. When I was a younger man, maybe I was more drawn to the looks. Now that I'm much older, the ride quality is the most important, though I do need to like the looks of the wheels, too.

Either the windshield is amazingly clear or the Bosch Icons are incredibly effective, but...

...I was able to snap these pictures today on the way home (stopped in the middle of the road with no traffic coming in either direction.) Couldn't get him in time to catch him eating some dead critter in the road, but was able to snap some far away, zoomed pictures through the windshield. Was...

    Laramie or Limited

Yep, which is one of the reasons I wanted the Laramie. Wish I'd picked one with a few more options (mainly sunroof, spray in bedliner, bed lights, and the safety system with LDW, adaptive cruise, 360 camera, etc.). But I love the ride quality as much as anything. After driving it for nine...

Is there any truth to the "day-of-the-week build quality variance", or is it just an old wives' tale?

I know this has been kicked around for years on the interwebs. I did a little bit of googling on it this weekend but found nothing definitive, certainly nothing scientific. Just curious what anyone here has read, heard, or experienced. FWIW, my build date was on a Tuesday.

How to preserve that new car smell as long as possible

Welp, that rules me out. My wife always tells me my vehicle smells like fart inside. I have no idea why.

Maybe the 20's vs. 22's? That's all I got.

How to preserve that new car smell as long as possible

How do you guys do it, if you do or if you care? What type of cleaners, conditioners, and protectants do you use that either help to preserve it or do the least to cover it up or replace it? For leather, I've always had good luck with Lexol Cleaner followed by Lexol Conditioner (has mink oil...

    Tonneau Cover Recommendations

I agree with @LoNeStAr. None of the hard covers, or really any for that matter, are guaranteed to be watertight. The best thing to do is pick from a reputable brand (he listed most of them) find the one that has the load bearing properties and style you want, and that flips up all the way to...

What type of hard folding bed covers are you using?

That Undercover Armorflex is nice. Note that the Bakflip models also fold up against the cab giving you nearly full bed access, each section latches individually, and you can close the tailgate without raising the back section now on even the G2. Apparently they have the same corporate...

    Tonneau Cover Recommendations

I don't have the spray in liner with this particular vehicle, but my last two did have it. I didn't have any issues using the provided sealing foam, maybe because the weight and pressure of the cover keeps it in place. Not sure, but never had any leaks up front that I was aware of. If you are...

    Tonneau Cover Recommendations

Nice. Good price, too. The only thing I can see different with it from my Bakflip is you can't fold it up out of the third position to stand up and lean against the back of the cab. But if it pops off easily or you never need that feature, then it's a heckuva deal.

    Tonneau Cover Recommendations

Is there something different about the "Mopar" version of the Bakflip and the non-Mopar versions? Because I'm on my 4th Bakflip (four different trucks) and never had a leaking problem. Two F150s and now on my 2nd Ram. Just a few very small dribbles at the tailgate in extreme rain or pressure...

    Tonneau Cover Recommendations

They changed the design on all their tri-fold covers to allow you to close the tailgate now without raising the back section. I had the old VP and you had to do this just as you described, but now even with the new G2 (their least expensive tri-fold), you can close it without the extra step...
