Pennzoil Platinum (and Ultra) $22 "Gas Card".... Expires 3/14

Just in case anyone is doing their own change with the best (Pennzoil Ultra Platinum ) oil to keep that 500,000 mile engine warranty. I just realized there is a $22 "gas card" on 2-5 gallon jugs. I was registering my warranty paperwork, documenting the change and the rebate popped up. Even...

    Oil Filter Location! UGH!

I did my second change today. Used the 2 bag method. Dripped a couple of tablespoons. It worked ok and I was able to rag off any drips. I will say the KN filter with the nut on the bottom made removing the filter pretty easy. A 1” wrench and it was off in seconds. It does take some time...

Why does no one else want the truck I do?

Yup, it's a tough find. Folks do seem to prefer the body colored grille and bumpers.....You may have to order it.....

Why does no one else want the truck I do?

Look for a North edition. It's close to the ORP. I think it's much more available. I have seen a lot of 6'4" Norths in New England. I almost bought one.....

What's your worst stories of shop/dealership work on your vehicle (Ram or otherwise)?

Here is another two more recent stories. Both from the same dealer who I have leased two rams from. 1 in 2013 and 1 in 2020. I did not buy my bighorn from them. A co worker in 2011 bought a used 2009 or 10 Sierra 1500 crew 5.3 from this dealer. Again financed it there, had them do all of his...

What's your worst stories of shop/dealership work on your vehicle (Ram or otherwise)?

Here is mine. This is why I do not trust dealer service anymore and I learned my lesson. Right after college, in 1993, I bought a used 1990 Audi 100 from an Audi dealer. I had a 110 mile highway commute daily for work and wanted a safe comfortable highway car. I also bought an extended...

Downsizing From 22”’s to 18”’s Road Noise

Yup, those knobby Goodyears will be noisy. They sure do look good though. I am sure they sound great on a Rebel, where you kind of want the "tire noise". Maybe they turn up the noise cancelling on the Rebel...... If objectionable, you may have to find some quieter all terrains. I am sure you...

I saw a report yesterday. 2021 is the last year. If it’s true, so Sad. I hope it was a bad rumor. I heard Stellantis is cleaning house.

Mud flaps, which ones to buy?

I like my WTs.. Installed all 4 in 15 mins...... no extra holes or hardware. I found them on sale at Autozone. Under $70 for all with free shipping. So far the rears have survived a snow bank backing incident or two. Do not forget the interior door threshold liners. easy to install and...

    Question On Start Stop Engines

I have grown used to it and do not mind it at all now. The only caution is brake pedal pressure when at a traffic light or stop. I was a “light“ brake holder putting as little pressure as possible and sometimes letting my vehicle creep forward at a stop by modulating the brake lightly...

How do you get your oil changed?

Been doing it myself for years now. Yes it’s a little messy but I know it’s done right. I can use the best premium oil, and it costs a whole lot less. At one point we had 6 cars, so it was getting Pricey. Some shops even use recycled oil! Most parts stores and Wally World now provide free...

Rear seat in-floor storage: all models?

A buddy was just looking, I think you need Level 1 or higher and a crew cab in the bighorn to get them. Here it is from the brochure... — Rear in-floor bins with removable liners (Crew Cab only; included with L1 and H1 Equipment Packages

Alpine vs non Alpine... Components, Sound, Upgrades???

I like my Alpine system, it sounds best with digital music. The base is over driven in XM mode but the MP3s (high bit rate) sound great (it’s an XM thing, low bit rate) . Radio sounds good too. My son has the base system and the Apline sounds much better.

Looking to purchase a Ram, concern about future value

Just keep this in your mind, the Hummer EV truck has a 200 KWh battery. At current "electrify america" fast charge rates of (50-100KW per hour) about $0.50-.75 per KWh in order charge it, it will cost you $100-$150 to fill her up and drive a whopping 300 miles summer and 200 miles Winter. Also...

Washing road salt off in winter

I have two local drive through washes with brushes. So far 15 washes and no scratches, and I check every time. Be sure to have a good wax on your vehicle, it helps too, I have "TW Seal 'N Shine". Both have an undercarriage spray but I also have a good coat of undercoating.

    Adaptive Cruise Control.....Yay or Nay?

My last 2013 Chrysler 300 S had it and it worked perfectly . Zero issues in 6 years. I think its a no brainer and makes travel a little safer. But at $4K, I would say no.
