Been considering a few trailers. I don't have the little ones like you, but the couple I've had in the past year would both work for a family of 4 and you would look kickass with your Rebel. Rub some dirt on those kids!! :) Off-road trailers below are a Conqueror UEV-490 and an Outback...

I also had that fixed, but it only took the dealer 4 hours. I live in the desert, though, so I drove with it no problem while I waited for the window parts to come in.
I might be mistaken, but unless your lights are on, I think you shouldn't have voltage on the 4 pin. Only when you've got the running lights, hazards, brakes, or turn signals on. Try those and check again.
