Congrats on your new Big Horn and welcome to the forum!

    high milage hurricane engines..?

If I’m not mistaken, Jeep actually used the Hurricane engines in the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, not the Cherokee. Wagoneer got a SO version and the Grand Wagoneer got an HO version.

    high milage hurricane engines..?

What would you consider high mileage? They’ve only been in Ram 1500’s for one model year (2025). How many miles can a guy put on his truck in one year? The most I’ve heard of someone driving in a year is about 100k miles, but that was on a different truck forum. You might check out some...

    Orange Peel

If it's bad enough you might be able to get them to fix it (or have it fixed by a local shop). I've seen a couple cases where the orange peel was severe and was covered by Ram. The best thing to do is negotiate that into your contract before you actually sign all the paperwork. Once you sign...

    Cigars

Thanks for the quick review. I think the novelty of them would make them great to have on hand for the 4th.

    Catch Can

You’re right, that fact slipped my mind. So I should have said the oil level indicator, which is basically showing between full and 1 quart low. Substitute that for what I posted about the dipstick full and low marks and my post is still valid.

    Catch Can

I can't tell you what normal oil consumption is on either Hurricane engine. I'm assuming when you say it's down to 3/4 you mean on the dipstick. Which means it's down about 3/4 of a quart. That could be normal in a new Hurricane after 3k miles. Other owners might be able to give input on...

    Ram back in NASCAR

I'm sure NASCAR will get along just fine without your support. Tons of other people enjoy watching it. I used to be one of them until they became woke like most other professional sports have done. The engines are limited to 358 cubic inches.

    Ram Box silver cargo rails

You can reuse the bolts from the black rails for the silver rails. Dealership where we bought our 2020 Limited let us swap the black rails out for silver ones at no charge when we bought it. I knew about the rail issue prior to buying so I was able to negotiate that in.

3.0L I6 Hurricane HO Twin Turbo Fuel Octane?

Yes, but it’s a separate model from the Limited. Until a couple years ago it was called Laramie Longhorn. I never understood why Ram didn’t just call it a Longhorn. Maybe they just like to keep people confused. But it is a totally separate model from a Limited.

3.0L I6 Hurricane HO Twin Turbo Fuel Octane?

The Longhorn also comes with the HO engine.

3.0L I6 Hurricane HO Twin Turbo Fuel Octane?

I see nothing there which says you can run anything but 91 octane in the HO. In fact, the last sentence for the HO says "The use of 91 or higher octane premium gasoline is required in this engine.". Not recommended, but required. It's the SO that you can use 87 octane according to the manual.

Is the term "grocery getter" offensive to you

I didn't think it was a contest. I was just adding a little levity lol. I do like the truck in your pic though. Too bad it doesn't exist.

Newbie and never thought I would be here

That's the first thing I did in my first 5th gen. It was actually the sales rep who recommended I turn it off. I disable auto braking on any vehicle equipped with it. Alarms are one thing but allowing the vehicle to slam on the brakes when it thinks it needs to doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

Is the term "grocery getter" offensive to you

This response makes me think you checked the top option in this survey. :p I mean, lets be honest. Half ton pick-ups aren't really trucks. They are perfectly capable of doing some "truck stuff". But let's face it, this is a truck...:ROFLMAO:

HEMI® Is Back—And It’s Cheaper Than Before On The Ram 1500

Ram owners are now experiencing what F150 owners went through 15 years ago lol. Naturally aspirated v8 versus a 6 cylinder twin turbo. It's a tired argument. Get which ever engine you feel more comfortable with and move on. I'm just glad we have a v8 option again. More engine options is a...
