My camshaft and lifters were replaced 140,000 miles ago, so no adverse effect on engine. I would advise you to replace all lifters, instead of just the affected one. Chip in your own money if needed.
If there are no fault codes in the system and the problem is not present when tech looks at it, it makes it very hard to troubleshoot. My guess would be that wires related to transfer case are damaged somewhere. Or loose connector.
2014 with 230,000+ miles on it - no fluid change. Works as new.
However: I only do this because we have an extended warranty. If we didn't, I would change every 100,000 miles or so.
Depends on whether you get the 4WD Auto transfer case, or a true 4WD (no auto function). For me, the 4WD auto comes in handy in rain and snow, on steep hills and when I need to pull out in a hurry. I don't have a use for true 4WD as the closest i come to off-roading a dirt and gravel roads.
Well, where I live everything (shops restaurants, gun range etc) is at least 10 miles away. Also, I like driving. Then there's the regular visits to family that live 700 miles away. Etc.
As far as fuel bill: anyone who feels they can afford the Limited trim should be able to afford the fuel...
We have both a 2014 Big Horn (240,000 miles) without a/s, and a 2020 Limited (177,000 miles) with a/s, and I drive both regularly.
The Big Horn's ride is fine, but the Limited's comfort is in another league IMO. If money is no object, then I would always go with a/s (and retractable steps, but...
This video does a good job explaining the Ram (and Scout) and explaining why you would or wouldn't want to get one. Most interesting part for me was that Ramcharger is less fuel efficient than regular Ram when running 100% on generator.
The Michelin tires were fine. In my area there are many twisty roads, which definitely made them wear out way before mileage warranty. Other than that, they preformed just fine.
In the end, I decided I wanted more sidewall and switched to 18" wheels.
So, not seeing the MSRP custs yet. BTW, the up to 60% off was for leftover 2023 I believe.
Anyway, around me leftover 2023 V8 trucks are being discounted from 61K to 47K, not bad until you remember they increased prices by at least that amount in the last 5 years.
I changed my battery in the autoparts store parking lot myself, since they were not allowed to do it because they did not want to be blamed for the electronics resetting and needing some time to come back completely.
Changing the battery worked fine, and I could drive the truck, but it took a...
My 2020 just received a new transmission at 167,000 miles. This is our third Ram. Trucks are fairly reliable, but having said that I would never buy one without an extended warranty. I see the extended warranty as calling Ram's bluff on their reliability, and so far I've won.
It does, but that turned out to be a red herring: somehow light was switched off in settings as @SD Rebel suggested, so it was working the whole time probably. 🤦♂️
The lumpy idle, occasional clang at startup and jerky ride at low rpm turned out to be the true symptoms of what was going on...
Wanted to give an update: took it into the dealer (there still weren't any codes/lights).
Turned out cylinder 6 was misfiring. They replaced coil pack an d now I have a smooth running truck again.
I don't really understand why it would cause damage? One wheel/tire runs at a different number of rotations/mile, but differential is made for taking care of that (all of this 2WD).
My Limited came with 22" rims which I have replaced with 18" rims and tires. The size of these tires is slightly larger than the originals, and the spare tire.
Experienced a flat tire a while ago, replaced with spare and rove to tire shop.
Can driving with one tire of a different size damage...
Have they checked the 'brains'? Is that what you meant by 'module'? That or a bad ground maybe?
Sidenote: I thought I was high on miles on my 2020 Limited (156,000), but you are the champ, sir!
Hope you get it fixed soon.
I've been having a lot of fun with the Grok AI on X (Twitter). Its image generating capabilities are amazing. All of the following images were created by feeding it a descriptive text:
