Good luck, theres alot staked against you. 3.21 gears to start, 880 is pin weight empty then you have to add the weight of a slider hitch with a short bed
Spend the money and buy a hensley or propride hitch if you have to tow with a 1500. Im stuck with my truck for another year and its night and day difference
Between ease of hook up and not having to deal with a heavy hitch to slide in and out of the receiver of my truck the propride or Hensley hands down are worth it. i have over 10k miles on mine now towing a 32' tt and there is zero sway.
So i figured id post up here because I have emailed them and haven't gotten any responses. My exhaust is about a year and a half old. Something inside the muffler definitely broke free and rattles horribly under acceleration. I put the stock exhaust back on my truck and the rattle is gone...
My truck has been doing this with my travel trailer and just confirmed its not trailer specific on my 14ft dump trailer over the weekend. Where's the fix ram?
I ordered my Hensley direct from them. I snagged a refurbished unit. Saved at least 1k. My rv is about 36ft long (cougar 32RLI) and I've got about 7-8k miles towing all over with it. There is no sway. None. Well worth the peace of mind and never being white knuckled driving
Any tire is better than the junk they put on most trailers leaving you stranded/damaged on the side of the highway. If your completely new to camper just a quick list of things you will need
rv toilet paper and tank treatment
rv jack pads(some places require them)
surge protector
clean water...
its not the weight that pops the tires. Its that they are just poorly made and usually when they come apart they take fenders and body work with them. Ive prob seen a few dozen campers on the side of the road ripped to shreds when one of those garbage tires lets loose
My camper weighs 8300 dry. Ive towed over 8k miles with my setup. When i has a curt sway hitch it was horrible. Couldn't go above 40mph. I ended up going to a hensley and changing a few other things out. Truck tows fine and runs perfectly straight down the highway. Never any iffy moments...
