"If this were truly a problem, I wonder if FCA would have kept it quieter.. "
Was not FCA that announced it. IIHS did. Here is a quote from the report;
"The Ram 1500 Crew Cab was redesigned for the 2019 model year. Beginning with 2019 models built after July 2018, the cab mounts to the vehicle...
Although, in the right circumstance, you can gett a new one for about the same. Ours iis fully loaded with a MSRP of $68,300 and we got it for just shy of $13k off the sMSRP.
Check online, you can get the Mopar warranty way cheaper than the dealer . The finance Folks at dealers make way more money than salesman because that is where the profit is.
1) They charge way more than you can get a similar warrranty online for.
2) usually (although not always) they sell...
Well for us it was. If we could not find a No Filagree Longhorn, we would have purchased a frost/black Limited. AS we keep our cars for a long long time, we are picky.
We had to hunt around as we had intedned to order in the spring. When the end of the Lifetime Warranty was announced we...
Yes the IIHS Crash test repoort is careful to point out it only applies to trucks made after a certain month. Be sure to check it out.
Having one made after this month was an absolute requirement for us.
Love my LongHorn with Air suspension and ORP. Although ORP does add weight, decreasing payload. Somewhare I read about 150 pounds. Not sure if that is accurate.
I too was surprised at how the Falken Tires did on the road. Thought I would be replacing them, but think I will hang onto them for...
The Long Horn can be had with and without filagree on the leather.
I would not have purchased one with filagree (too busy for me) and was going to purchase a Limited. Then I saw the one without the filagree. IMHO completely changed the feel of the interior.
The Long How w/o filagree even has...
I was watching the TFL Truck Video where they crown the RAM Limitedn the winer of thier Gold Hitch Award. If you haven't seen it , they test the big three trucks on a steep 8 mile grade at about 11K feet elevation.
One thing I noticed is RAM sent them a Limited with the OFG to use in the test...
Good points. My statement implying pre-july models had trouble passing the test was based on the assumption that the strengthening of the cab mounts to the vehicel frame was in response to a test. It could have been in response to a number of factors: an IIHS test, a Ram test, engineering...
Quoting from the IIHS Website:
"Beginning with 2019 models built after July 2018, the cab mounts to the vehicle frame at the C-pillars were strengthened to improve occupant protection in small overlap frontal crashes. (Information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the...
Bottomline is it did not pass. It did not pass in a severe enuff manner for Ram to do a mid-model-year redesign. How severe did the failure have to be to cause a mid-model-year fix? Don't know. Would be nice if they released the crash tests on the Pre-August Rams.
Be careful drawing passenger...
Buying a post-July built truck was an absolute requirement for me. Since the pre July build crash test data was not published, we have no idea whether the failure was minor or severe. Must have been severe enuff for Ram to engineer a fix.
