The Borla Atak doesn't have drone, but I would call it "noise". You can tell the difference when MDS kicks in but it's not bad. My 2018 silverado was awful when MDS kicked in. It was annoying when MDS kicked on and off.
They are just a cover. Mine were installed from the factory but I'm sure the install was simple. I had a 2018 silverado I installed the husky liners on and they were so thick and really difficult to install with the wheels on. No difference in durability on the MOPARs vs the Huskies.
I'm the same way. My dealership is usually booked a week out and, not that I wait to the last minute, I'd rather just go and get it done. I also enjoy doing it myself putting better oil for a cheaper price. I take the used oil to advanced auto to recycle for free.
Not sure if you resolved this but I have the Borla resonator but recently removed it because I LOVE the ATAK sound. The resonator does make a huge difference. Nearly eliminates most "noise" except the sound you get when flooring it. The cruising noise is almost gone and not noticeable at all...
