Here are some pics of the Bighorn. If you don't have the base stereo you'll have a sub back there (on the left, I don't have it). If you have eTorque you'll have a battery back there (on right, again, not me). Otherwise, there is some room to work. The folding seat method may work on the...
And for those interested in the base level door speaker...
They look sealed off nice, unlike my Tacoma, so I don't think I'll have to manually seal the doors. That's good news. I'll prob run new speaker wire.
I'll replace the stock amp with the DSR1. I thought sound imaging was going to take a...
I found the product I will use to being the upgrade process. This allows you to keep the factory deck, but adds a ton of advanced features we wouldn't have otherwise (like timing). This also explains why upgrading modern systems is so complicated.
For the 2019 Dodge Ram (which is supported...
I plan to use the same solution I had in my Tacoma:

That let me wire in my dash cam and my radar detector.
Nice! I wish they'd show more specifics on our trucks. Like the wire breakout coming from the Amp, how they chose to dampen the doors, etc. But very cool! Good find there!
For those of you that have a bed rail, what sort of cool things have you found to attach to it? Is there a standard bolt/nut that can be used on this so we can attach/device our own creations?
I'll see what can be done. I wonder if they could just swap out the mirrors and restore the camera option. I'm guessing everything else is still in place... but I know that's a long shot. I'd be shocked if they do anything at all, but it's worth a try.
My trailer is narrow so I didn't need them. A wider trailer, however, they'd be awesome. They are nice, even for normal driving. You see a ton of the road behind. But for the power folding option, I would have passed for my needs.
Would somebody out there with the 9 speaker system look under the drivers seat and either post a picture of the amp, or list the part number? It sure looks a lot like the same amp in the non 9 speaker system and I'm wondering if it is the same hardware (needed for the engine sound dampening)...
Ah yeah, I like your venting idea! And yes, interesting thought about eTorque!
So another possible Stereo upgrade issue is the engine silencing. I wonder how calibrated to the speakers and amp that system is. A new amp and different speakers will change things...
I need a schematic showing...
Ouch.
So I had the 360 camera and adding a tow package removed it...along with power folding mirrors? That bites.
What do you mean take it back.. it's a week old. Nothing I can do now, or is there?
I removed the seats to take a look at the back, and here is what we have. Not much there, but enough room for an amp and a ultra thin sub.
From what I can tell, it looks like the folding seat mod would work too for the passenger side. Although they have reinforced the clamp with steel (I think...
The tow mirrors that came on my Bighorn are manual fold... beyond frustrating as I have to fold them every time I pull in my garage. Since my trailer is narrow, I'd have rather had the powered folding mirrors that were not an upgrade. I didn't realize on the window sticker those were superseded...
On my Tacoma, I built an adjustable platform for sleeping and storing gear underneath. With the larger bed of the Dodge Ram, I'm looking forward to building one for my new rig once a canopy is available...prob three months out for the ARE MX I want. Dammit. I hate waiting.
I'd love feedback...
WOW, that helps a ton!! Thanks so much :)
Does it show wiring for the speakers by any chance? And/or schematics for the outputs from the factory deck? Mainly I'd like to know if there are pre-amp outputs to that amp. And if so, is it for each channel seperately (front/rear and left/right)...
