Man, I am stuck in the same situation... I'm at a loss for what to do. Can you explain more about what tool you used and how to do it? Thanks for the info. This should have been a quick project....
I ordered a PCM through Mopar's parts store (main Mopar site, not a different dealer) last Wednesday. They cancelled the order until I sent them an email saying I was fine to wait, but then they raised the price to full retail vs the ~$100 dollar cheaper price I originally agreed to order. I...
I had a similar issue earlier this year. I think the problem is actually overfilling the DEF tank. I filled it but the pump (truck stop) was problematic and I thought it wasn't filling it all the way. It took my truck over 300 miles for the gauge to finally rise. Ironically, I was driving to...
Like Daverous said, you can sometimes notice that it is in active regen with a drop in MPG and a slightly different exhaust/engine tone. My truck usually hits passive regen once above 60mph when cruising along flat roads.
I monitor my truck using an OBD II bluetooth dongle and the Torque app...
I haven't noticed more than a degree or two change in oil or coolant temp during regens (monitored using Torque app). The best way I have noticed regens, if not monitoring EGTs/DPF load is a drop in the MPGs as the engine dumps more diesel into the filter to light it up.
That's one of the reasons I monitor EGTs though the Torque app. I can't imagine it is great for the system to shut it down without properly cooling 1100 deg DPF and other exhaust components. I wish the truck's display would show more info. Hopefully with the GDE tune...
I have been closely monitoring my regen cycles over the last 5-6k miles and have noticed that my truck will automatically go into active regen mode every ~700 miles regardless of how loaded the DPF is. Most of my driving is interstate with <20% city driving so my DPF usually sits around 20-30%...
I'm worried my truck is having the same issue. No codes were thrown, but I got the message "500 miles before no restart". I filled the tank and have driven it multiple times (probably 80 miles total) since the fill up and the gauge still shows 1/8 of a tank of DEF and the "miles to restart" on...
