We tow a 6500 pound travel trailer and get 13-14 MPG. With the 33 gal tank I could go 400 miles without stopping (although I would never cut it that close). Most of our camping is within 4 hours of home, so never having to stop for fuel is nice.
If you don’t mind driving a bit, check out Heberts Town and Country in Shreveport LA. They have a pretty decent selection and always provide a fair deal. Ask for the internet sales manager, Jason.
Thought I’d add a towing update for my Gen 3 EcoDiesel. We just pulled our 6500 pound travel trailer up to Queen Wilhelmina State Park in AR with the Laramie EcoDiesel with 3.92 Rear end. The road to the park is a 13 mile long very steep, very winding stretch with everything from 55 MPH...
I also saw where Amsoil is recommending their Signature Series Max Duty diesel oil, but it is spec'd as Chrysler MS-10902 so I don't see how they can consider it suitable for the EcoDiesel when FCA is calling for MS-12991.
Yes, they are! I took it in this morning and they drained the T6 and put in Pennzoil Platinum Euro. They said trying to get a straight answer from FCA on what oil to use was extremely painful and that they had to talk with multiple people. Not sure why FCA had such a hard time when it was...
So the dealer contacted me today, said they heard from FCA and they’ll be swapping my oil out for the MOPAR MS-12991. I knew my dealer would make it right, I just wonder how many other Ecodiesels are out there with Rotella because neither the owner nor the dealer has a clue that the oil specs...
Thanks, good info. Makes me wonder what changed with the turbos between last generation and the Gen 3 that now all of a sudden T6 can cause coking. I'm assuming that as long as I follow Ram's turbo cool down guidance in the manual that I can minimize any coking that may occur after working the...
Heard back from FCA, they will be elevating it to the case management team. And obviously, they recommended I reach out to the dealer to have the correct oil installed. This was a complimentary oil change (since it was the first one) and I hate to make the dealer eat the cost of the oil twice...
Thanks for the info. I told the dealer about the new owner's manual, but like others, they go by what the service bulletin says. I sent a note to MOPAR customer support to get some guidance on what to do with the Rotella. If they say it's no big deal for the next 10K miles then I have it in...
So I contacted the service department today and they said they checked the most recent MOPAR service bulletin update and this is what it said:
Engine Oil Viscosity (SAE Grade) — Diesel Engine
CAUTION:
Your vehicle is equipped with an advanced technology Diesel Engine and an emission device...
So I got the first oil change in my EcoD today and sure enough the dealer put Rotella T6 in it. I wish I had seen this post sooner, but obviously Ram has not gotten the word out to dealers that Rotella is not recommended for Gen 3 Ecodiesels. Looks like I'll be making a trip back to speak with...
We've had some warm weather down here in Louisiana recently (90 degrees yesterday) and the AC in my 2020 Laramie cranks out the cold. If I leave it in Auto I find myself having to turn the temperature up just to keep it comfortable. Also we've had tons of rain this spring and not a leak of any...
2020 Laramie Ecodiesel built in October 2019, purchased in December. No issues whatsoever in the first 1000 miles. We've had a ton of rain here in Louisiana and I've been checking religiously for leaks, so far so good.
I owned three consecutive Rams, then went to a 2017 F150 5.0 to try something different. The F150 was trouble free, but I couldn't get over the cheap interior and wallowy ride. If you're worried about reliability in the Ram, spend some time on the F150 forums, lots of issues over there. The...
I'll second the check your payload by looking at the yellow sticker on your door jamb. My Laramie, which is similarly equipped, has a payload significantly lower than 1800 lbs.
I purchased a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Ecodiesel on Dec 31st. I traded in a 2017 F150 XLT, nice truck but the hard plastic interior just wasn't doing it for me.
