Don't forget, those of us with air suspension have additional 'demons' to deal with on the front end geometry.
There is roughly a 3/4" tolerance in height of the front end at any given time. Combine that with the fact that in 'areo' mode the truck is lowering almost 3/4" at highway speed. The...
There's a very, very fine line between seeing far enough ahead and not blinding oncoming vehicles.
It's been getting better, but it's just the inherent nature of driving at night. It's more dangerous, especially at speed.
My non-eTorque motor does the 'smooth as butter' wuss-bag shifts too.
-On one hand it's really freaking nice.
-On the other hand you can tell it's sandbagging the engine and robbing you of serious forward momentum.
It's quite luxurious as long as you're not looking to eek out that F-150...
Interesting.
I did not realize that ANC is lost by disconnecting the sub?
Even the thought of a quieter cabin is not enough to offset the absurdly unbalanced system with the sub attached.
I'll take more road noise over that pathetically balanced system that is a true disaster for any sound...
For the next 10 years electric trucks will really only be suitable for the commuter or home depot run type of person, and NOT for the person that actually tows heavy things. It will be a while longer before we can extract that kind of power from batteries without needing a charge every 75...
My Limited has a intermittent rattling noise somewhere either behind the shift knob or where that lower part of the dash meets the center console. Been searching for it for months now. Some days it does it and some days, not.
There will inevitably be a forced induction 6 or 4 cylinder engine offering on the Ram 1500's before going all electric.
The consolation prize is that low RPM / high torque can be fun to play with.....just no more rumble.
I was excited when I first packed it with the polyfil. I did what you did and stuffed all the corners, etc. To me the overbearing bass was still there, just more of a 'dead thud' sound.
I prefer a clean, balanced sound system, and even with the polyfil stuffed in there I found the sound was...
Don't bother with this one.
First time around I PACKED the sub box with polyfil. Made it worse.
Then I pulled most of the polyfil out and only left in the recommended volume. Still sucked.
Unplug the sub and be done. It's a pretty decent system this way.
I generally run Bass @4, Mid @0, and...
Thank you for that explanation.
I have to say with all of this information that it's pointing more and more to the fact that FCA was primarily looking for more 'economies of scale' on their motor oil purchasing.
Likely its cheaper if they order 1 million quarts of 0W-20 versus 500,000 quarts...
So then what is the argument for switching to 0W-20 in areas that never see freezing temperatures?
For a person who does their own oil changes, is there any reason?
So for someone like me who does their own oil changes and lives in a warmer climate that almost never sees freezing temperatures, why would I want to change to 0W-20?
Seems like the change is being done for two reasons:
-Convenience for dealer network. "One oil fits all'
-Very cold weather...
I really think it's just another way of squeaking .001 MPG more out of a 'cold' engine. Thinner oil when cold = less friction.
Plus, all things being equal, the 0W20 is going to break down faster than the 5W20.
The larger the spread between cold and hot numbers means the additives in the oil...
Yes, I am curious as well.
Perhaps they altered something in the engine in the 2022 models that prefers the 0 weight oil over the 5 weight?
Or perhaps it was just an attempt to squeak out another .001 MPG savings for CAFE?
Engines are least efficient when cold(and still warming up), which is...
Seriously? It creates decent bass without an enclosure? If so, you may be on to something.
Did it sound appreciably better hooked up and just hanging there vs. having it unplugged?
I wonder if any sound engineers could chime in and suggest a way to attach it back there, but not in the cheap...
This I agree with 100%.
If I were 90% highway I would definitely not waste money on 89.
But I'm 90% in town and notice subtle increased acceleration smoothness with 89.
Someone posted a video a while back with their 5.7 Hemi hooked up to a computer and looked at the timing with different octane gas.
You could clearly see the engine parameters preferred 89 over 87.
Maybe someone knows the vid I'm talking about and can repost?
