    When you start feeling and hearing a rumble they are pretty much done. I would not go cross country, but local, you should be OK. YMMV.

    OBD II reader connected to the truck, could stop at the local advance auto, auto-zone or what ever is nearby and ask them to check for codes.

    I tried that to no avail. when my AS was giving me the fits. What did work ,was cleaning the G1A (IIRC) ground connection.

    I would just use a multi-meter and check for voltage. The RD is hot, BK is not.
