I know roughly how much it is off @ 35mph & 70mph. The dash tells you how far you traveled and how long it took so you can get your avg mph for that tank. Use that information to get the distance you're 'off', add it to the miles traveled for the tank. Then it's your normal mpg calculation. It's...
I believe you're over thinking this.. alot of people have done this exact upgrade without doing anything else.
I upgraded to that exact size, but in a LT Mickey Thompson Baja Boss and I have 3.92's.
Things I noticed changed:
- speedo reads 70mph when I'm actually doing around 71.5 mph.. with...
My Oil temps never get above 225F when towing.. I towed the 24' enclosed as recently as this past week to Shenandoah (mild mountains) and she still stays that low.
Nice write up. Thanks!
I've bought everything to do this almost a year ago and was waiting for 60k.. now I'm @ 68k and still haven't done it. 🤬🤬🤬 ..hopefully on the 9th day of the week, because the first 8 are booked up.
It's designed that way, I did grease the new parts, and it's a poor design. Some companies make kits to put a boot over the spline, but I did not find them until after I had done the job.
I got all the parts off RockAuto and it was not a fun job. The CV Axle shaft did not want to separate from...
I get anywhere from 8 - 11 mpg towing this depending on how fast I'm going and how much weight I put in there.
Towed it last weekend, empty trip from South Jersey to just outside Harrisburg, PA and got 10.7mpg.
I wish this was true.. but I know Harley Davidson has screwed people on many discontinued bikes as early as 3-4 years.. the Vrod is a perfect example of that.
I have not, but payload is what you really need to be worried about on the higher level trims.
Towing can state 20k lbs, but if your payload is 900lbs, you aren't getting anywhere close to that.
I did not tow for the first 500, but did not follow the 50mph for first 500 towing.. by the time I towed something worth mentioning I'm pretty sure I had over 5k miles on the truck and was on the second oil change. At 65k miles now with no unusual problems that other RAMs don't have.. sad we...
I bought the stuff awhile back and had my buddies lift lined up this past weekend. We were supposed to do the trans and the front, passenger stub shaft / CV axle / bearings / etc.. the CV axle and stub shaft was a nightmare and took FOREVER. So Trans is probably hopefully gonna get done next...
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs were quiet for the first few thousand miles. I'm around 15k miles on them now, and while they're wearing very well, they sing as loud the Goodyear MT tires did on my old F150.
My Etrq is a joke.. the mpg is worse than a standard Hemi (65K in the mid 15's mpg - mostly hwy - hand calculated) and I'm hoping it dies before the 8yr 80k warranty expires. From what I've read it's pretty expensive to replace and the dealer has to be involved..
Though I must say the shifting...
