The t-case is lubed any time you're running down the road. Nothing wrong with trying it out though, you won't hurt it (when used properly). But I wouldn't worry about any components drying out or condensation building up, because it gets lubed anytime the truck is moving.

I have mine on auto all the time, but I add brake pressure as it's engaging and that seems to help it hold on hills. I might try turning off the auto feature and just doing it the "old fashioned" way where I press the button manually.

What's everyone's build date? Go check out the front body mount tsb, it describes a loud thunk in the floor under strong articulation. Not the tsb for the sway bar links, that's a different thing, and only related to newer trucks. (once again, check your build dates).
