I always assumed it was in case there is any water in the fuel. Water sinks to the bottom of the tank because it's heavier than gasoline. Airplanes have a valve in the bottom of the tank that gets opened before every flight to drain any water that has collected in the bottom of the tanks.
What I have are automotive grade vinyl decals that stick right on top of the factory "Badges". You don't remove anything. You'll see a "chrome" edge around yours which is a cool look also. All my badges were black because I bought the Night Edition.
Thanks TheLegend ! Yes I really liked the look on the Ram "Red Edition" model but hated the parentheses and trademark on the door badges. I mean.....why? There are lot's of decal colors and styles available that would look good on the Billet, and if you don't care for it once it's on, it's easy...
These are the ones I had picked out to install when I was waiting for my Ram to get built. I decided that I didn't hate the look of my truck without the flares (like I thought I would), so I never ordered them.

Leased a 2020 Cherokee (through Ally) for 39 months. The lease buyout was $17,200 and when my special order Ram came in, the dealer offered me nothing over the buyout price. I bought it cash from Ally, and 2 weeks later, sold it to Carvana for $24,200. The timing was helped by the used car...
When I ordered my Ram last September, I was expecting a 22' model year. Then I found out that I was too late, and my ordered truck would be a 2023. During the long wait for it (5 months) I found out it would not come with heated rear seats or fender flares. The lack flares upset me the most...
Got her all cleaned up today and sprayed it with the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating. Nice product, very easy to apply even in sunlight.
First off, I am not a fan of "chrome", steel or plastic. So I ordered my Laramie with the Night Edition option. While I waited for it to get built (5 months!), I ordered all my decals. I love my new Ram!
And use this link if you ever need to adjust them. You don't necessarily need the fancy tool, it's quite expensive. I just used a large adjustable wrench like somebody else on here suggested. You're just bending the steel striker loop thingy (not it's official name) around to move where the lid...
Here's a great thread on how to remove the Rambox. I'd go this route just to check the harness connection before I went to the dealer for that.

Installed the ESI Ultimate Tailgate Seal yesterday. It will help keep the dust out, but I see other areas that are open to dust infiltration. Might try some black caulk in those.
I think I read that it was 100 lbs at 5 x 7. It could slide out if you were dragging your cargo out. My last truck had a 1/4" thick rubber matt and no tonneau cover. It would lift when I was driving, so I screwed down the frt corners. Perfect after that.
It's just to keep cargo from shifting and protect the truck bed. It wouldn't matter if you cut it an inch shorter all around. It's not your living room carpet. 🤣
