I have not seen the engine bay of your truck, but there is always two ports on a heater core. In is always the top port, out is the bottom. Unless your ports are side by side, you should close off the top port, and yes they have a black mesh around them up near the firewall.
It surely could be. What ever the reasons are, the blend doors are not closing or sealing all the way, and are letting hot air in when we don't want it.
No problems closing completely, ran mine closed all last summer. Any amount of hot water getting to the heater core will taint the system and not let you get the AC as cold as it is capable.
Your freezer at home, the refer units bringing your frozen products, don't have heater cores supplying...
Find where the hoses go to the heater core on the fire wall. Its always the top hose going into the heater core, then just find a suitable spot in that hose to tap into. You can use a clamp to test and verify b4 cutting into it as well.
Nice temperatures, that's what we are getting with the hack. Also without the Hack, we are getting different drivers side vent temperatures, 6-8 degrees warmer than the passenger side. Can check your passenger side vent right next to your screen?
