So I did an oil change today and its much easier to get to the filter with the westin bumper. Before the new bumper I needed to use ramps to get enough clearance to get under there. Now I can do the change no ramps! So a small hidden benefit of the bumper upgrade.
What kind of gas are you guys running, and what was the tank level? These things can happen with low octane crappy / dirty gas. Put some good gas in (89 or above) some seafoam, and floor it a few times on entrance ramps to blow it out. Also resetting the ecm on occasion is good too, clears...
Got the housings and rigids installed today. Also picked up a set of harbor freight cubes to fill in the other openings. I ended up wiring the rigids directly to the oem fog circuit and it seems to work just fine. No flicker, no weird errors in the truck. I had oem led fogs so i figured the...
Does interrupting the red wire at the ignition connector also disable the cloned fob attacks? I mean will the fob still unlock and/or remote start the truck? Or is this just a basic starter kill at the button? Useful information here, thanks for posting.
I ran. 16gauge marine 2 conductor thru the firewall today. Path using a fiberglass stick that I sharpened. Took 3 tries. Got thru on the 3rd time in the oem grommet. Silicone lube helps. Posted to show the angle. Penetration of the firewall should be parallel to the ground/frame.
I do plan on getting some lights for the sides. The Westin kit is like $400, but it bolts right up with the correct angle and stuff. I may get some different led Cubes and fab up my own mounts. I really like yellow fogs which Westin doesn’t make from what I can tell.
Got her back together, I like the look and this bumper is about 5x thicker steel than the oem. Also added the skid plate. Pretty easy install, I did it by myself. Want to get the fog light kit too that goes on the ends where the mesh is but that kit is $$. One benefit I can see right away is it...
I’ll just leave these pics here, details to follow. In the middle of assembly / installing. So far only issue is the parking sensors; I have to lengthen the harness. Stock pic for reference.
So I’ve added 10k miles of mixed driving on these tires and so far so good. The tires don’t even look like they’ve worn any rubber away yet, and I towed a 6k lb camper around a couple times a month over summer. I haven’t recalibrated anything and haven’t noticed any shifting issues or anything...
So mine has 12k on it never an issue until I let a buddy drive it home from a trip about 300 miles, towing a trailer/atv and loaded up pretty good. He drives faster than I do probably avg 85 mph most of the way. Happened the next morning after that trip, real rough start, rough idle. Then it...
I installed the film with the trim in place. Just used water so i could slide them around a bit before squeege'n them down. The lamin-x is pretty thick and easy to work with.
