Good show! Thanks for the update.
The absence of the hood switch doesn't seem like it would be a show stopper for the alarm system.
If I understand the description in the service manual correctly, the switch presents an "open circuit" when the hood is closed. In other words, the system can't...
I don't know anything about the Tazer, and next to nothing about Alfa OBD.
But in poking around, I have seen several people on various forums who alluded to needing a "PIN" in order to do certain things. Apparently, the PIN is tied to a specific vehicle, but is available as easily as calling...
When I removed my stock springs, I noticed that the several of the top coils had a plastic wrap around them. I removed that wrap and installed it on the new lowering springs.
When I put the truck back on its wheels I was really surprised, because it looks like the top coils of the new springs...
At 5K, my steering wheel looks the same as it ever did. (Bighorn Sport. Not heated.)
I use a lot of hand sanitizer, but I try to let my hands dry, before I grab the wheel. I mostly work inside, so don't get real dirty.
Nope. That would be nice, but I've read the install procedure. Looks like you have to rip half the interior out of the truck to do it. I don't want it that badly. (Of course, if I'm wrong about that, I hope someone will clue me in.)
Yeah. I gotcha. Thanks for that. Not surprised anymore.
Looking through the service manual (which is a whole 'nother story in itself) it appears that everything that I need is there, with the possible exception of the hood switch.
I'm thinking that I can get it flashed, and it will work...
Yup. I did.
I started that thread, too.
After I finally gave up on the idea that I actually might have an alarm (and got preoccupied with other stuff for a while) I wondered if anyone had successfully added one. Hence, this thread.
(I just installed my trailer brake controller. Need to get it...
No worries... I thought the same thing. Rolled down my window. Locked the truck.
Took the fob to the other end of the house. Went back, reached in, and opened the door. Nothing. It also does not have the flashing "security" indicator in the cluster.
Unfortunately, I discovered that my new Ram did not come equipped with an intrusion alarm, in spite of the fact that every GM vehicle I've bought since 2001 had one, standard.
So... has anyone successfully retrofit the factory alarm system?
I'm thinking that it would be mostly programming, and...
I'm confused. I have a Bighorn Sport with 8.4 display. (Halogen headlights if that matters.)
I've never heard of a theme/color change even being available. Never saw it in my user guide. Am I missing something? Or was this an option not available with some models or trim levels.
Thanks!
Just installed my springs (and fenderwell liners) yesterday. Made a nice - but not dramatic - difference in the stance. Wish I could lower the front by about an inch, but I do need it to still be useful as a truck, so I don't want to get carried away.
I bought the bags when I bought my springs...
Okay... decided to go a different route.
They issued an RA # and will have UPS pick up the second one, and refund my card.
The return emails sounded a little more intelligent than the call center personnel. The person who answered me (Joan M) assured me that they had the problem fixed, but they...
If you don't mind being a little bit "creative", you can find Homelink modules on ebay for various vehicles and configurations, for like $30-40.
Just be sure to get one for "rolling codes". They will usually advertise it as such. (The non-rolling code devices are ancient technology, and are...
