So, driving with the turbo plumbing disconnected essentially bypasses the air filter allowing dust and debris to enter your engine. Pulling over and getting a tow would've been the best option, but of course hindsight is 20/20 and I don't know what your circumstances were. Driving the truck in...
Do you keep anything on your dashboard? Hats, rags, sunglasses, anything that could block the sensor may not allow it to work correctly. Also check that the sensor is clean of dust.
As a second option maybe check out your settings in the EVIC/Radio screens. Maybe the previous owner turned the...
Same here, never got the regen message until I got it GDE tuned (I selected the option.) Before then I just had to keep my eyes and ears open for the raised idle speed (800RPM compared to 650RPM) and the change in exhaust note at low speeds. In My experience my truck does a regen every 30-40...
That all makes sense to me, appreciate the replies guys. For reference, the 3.0 liter cannoli factory under the hood of my truck pushes about 40 to 50 pounds at cold idle in gear and between 16 and 19 at hot idle in gear. If I put it in neutral at hot idle it hovers at around 19-20. At highway...
Former Hemi owner here, does the 5.7 have an actual oil pressure sender/sensor? Or does it use the computer to "estimate" the pressure like the EcoDiesel?
Yes I have. Nothing extremely heavy, mostly just boats up the launch ramp, not a single hiccup doing that. However I did have a friends Chevy Colorado crew cab give up the ghost in Vermont a few winters ago. Towed him up some two lane in the snow to get him to a dealership near Stratton, VT...
Like HSKR R/T above, I have the 4 auto T-case and have never had an overheating issue in 4WD or 4 Auto. Mind you I've never taken my truck rock crawling, but in the mud & snow or while towing my trailer it hasn't let me down in either mode, Auto or 4WD.
I agree with seeing about the previous owners maintenance just to cover your bases. If it’s a 2022 (non classic) then it will have the 3rd gen engine as I’m sure you know, they haven’t had to detune it or anything crazy, however there are two engine related recalls that could apply to that...
An early oil change is a great idea to get any break in material from the new parts out of there, and stick to a good interval of oil changes. So long as your oil filter was doing its job and caught all the metal from the dead cam I wouldn't be too worried. That having been said I'm not familiar...
Greetings from a fellow New Jersey Ram owner! I'll be looking forward to seeing your new blue Rebel this fall on the Garden State Parkway!
Mine was ordered on 12/1/20 and it came in 3/29/21 so yeah, that doesn't sound too far off. Mine was in "built, but waiting for additional options" phase...
Glad it was a nice and calm trip. These little diesels sure are torquey! Every time I’ve had a trailer behind mine I’ve been very impressed with how well it handles the weight.
Another thing to maybe check out is the idle air control valve. Could be stuck up with carbon, or simply malfunctioning. Works similar to a throttle flap on a gas engine, and I do believe these engines have one. But feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
That code makes me think you have a blockage somewhere in your fuel system. I'd wager maybe some dirt or debris in your fuel tank jamming up the fuel pickup. I've seen this on trucks, tractors, and generators. Sometimes when running for a while the suction of the lift pump will pick up some...
If you DIY it you can save a few hundred bones, and still have the peace of mind that you've got fresh fluid in there. The filter/pan is the most expensive part of the whole job at 2-300.
