After having 2 F-150s with the first and then second generation tailgate step, I can agree with other posters that Ford's solution is the best. The RAM is a close second with the deployable bed step, and it has the added benefit of being useful with a trailer attached - something Ford and GM...
Has anyone experienced snow on top of this cover? I had a BAK Revolver X2 on my last truck, and whatever the 1st gen of that on the truck before that one, and even 2 feet of snow didn't bother it.

OK, so I figured out what I'm noticing - it's the 4-3 downshift. It happens on quicker stops, and just appears to be the transmission downshifting.

This 8th speed... is it recirculation? I read somewhere on this forum that the RAM's HVAC never turned on recirculate on its own - it had to be user-selected. I disagree with that statement, since every time my truck auto stop/starts and the A/C is running, it seems to switch over the recirc...
Not to derail this thread too far, but give it time. My LKA was spotty at best, and seems to have gotten better as the miles pile on - almost like it's learning, which it may be doing.
Feel free to start a thread (if you haven't already, I'm viewing this thread from an email, not the Forum...
I enabled the gear display on Day #2 with the truck :D I'm pretty sure I see it at 3 and then 1. I will try to pay more attention to it. It's definitely only having a slight thump when coming to a stop, not when starting off or just sitting still. I've got the 3.92s as well.

Well, that's great news, since you wanted it to not be totaled! I'm curious what all the adjuster listed as needing repaired/replaced on your truck.
Good luck with the repairs, I hope they make you whole again! Also, as others have mentioned, since they're not totaling it - go for diminished...
This is an interesting thread. Occasionally, when coming to a stop, it feels like the transmission shifts harder than normal - I thought it was just a 3-1 shift, like my Fords before it. My truck definitely does not have a hard upshift when taking off, though.

Not now! With the current incentives, my one-month-old truck cost me about $8,000 too much! At the time though, I thought it was a decent deal. With little kids at home and wanting out of my F-150 so bad, I wasn't fighting for the best deal - just one in my budget that had the options...
The article is wrong. I bought and registered my RAM in Maryland in May, and paid roughly half the sales tax, since I traded in my last truck. This saved me almost $2,000, just in taxes.

This also makes me wonder. What is it about the combo of eTorque and pano roof that makes it a no-go???
My Limited was built in March, not sure which day. (can someone remind me how to figure out the day and time via the window sticker?)

It's all about torque multiplication. The lower (numerically higher) gear ratio multiplies the torque. Using round numbers, if your truck is producing 100lbft of torque and you have the 3.92 RAR, ignoring the rest of the drivetrain, your truck is putting 392lbft of torque to the ground. A...
I was just thinking about this this morning. I used to love perusing the new fleet order guide for F-150s to check out the MY changes.
I look forward to doing this with the 2020 1500 :D

AFAIK, they're only standard on Limited trucks.
They add a few pounds of weight, so they make it an option so they can list higher payload numbers. I really wish they were standard on all trucks - like others have said, without them the truck looks unfinished.

The towing chart shows a significant allowable load difference between 3.21 and 3.92-equipped trucks. 8,150 versus 11,250, to be exact (via RAMTrucks.com). There's gotta be a reason the manufacturer lists those towing numbers, given the cab/engine/bed/drive type are all the same.
I bought the...
Yeah, the only time I got noticeable gains was on a 2008 Honda Civic with a K&N Typhoon CAI. It used the stock intake as well as under-hood air, so it wasn't a true CAI, nor was it a heat-soaking sap on power. It brought the torque curve lower in the RPM range, thus making the car quicker off...
Thanks! Yeah, my route starts on surface streets for approx. 5 miles, with plenty of lights to sit at, and then onto the Capital (DC) Beltway (495) for approx. 18 miles, then surface streets for another approx. 3 miles. Inevitably there's some stop and go traffic as well as the highway speeds...
Well, I can tell you that with only 1,600 miles on the odometer, my 5.7 eTorque is already averaging better than my 3.5 EcoBoosts did in my 2011 and 2015 F-150s. The 2011 averaged 16.48 over 36k, and the 2015 did 16.15 over the same amount of miles. My eTorque just averaged 16.9 over the last...
Yeah, gonna be a while. I'm currently saving about $10/week on this truck versus my last one (taking into account slightly cheaper gas and better mileage due to eTorque or just the new truck), so 125 weeks to break even. A little over 2 years, so I should be saving money by the time I trade...
