Your question got me thinking. I think the air suspension does provide a firmer effective spring rate while towing (evidenced by the lack of sag even with a substantial tongue weight). That firmer spring rate could provide a more stable ride when towing. Could be why I’m not feeling any...
Based on those options I’d estimate 1350 payload. The spreadsheet won’t give exact number for a Laramie. I did post up the weights of some common options in post #108 of this thread
I have noticed that after a cold start the voltage quickly rises to 14.5-14.6. Stays there for an hour or so. Doesn’t seem to matter if idling, highway, towing, shut engine off/turn on again. It seems to stay at that voltage for a while.
After that first hour though the voltage seems to settle...
Sounds like you’ve done your research and will have a very nice system.
I’ve got 600 watts of solar on the roof and a 2000 watt inverter. Like you, I understood that the factory wiring just wasn’t up to the task. I too have replaced much of the wiring.
While driving, between the truck...
First let me say, I don’t have the eTorque.
I get 15 amps at above 14 volts off the 7 pin at my lithium batteries (Victron battery monitor), even at idle. When I rev the engine the amps stay about the same so the output to the 7 pin may be regulated. Provides a decent charge but it would take...
I understand the skepticism. But when I got on the interstate the difference was apparent. And with 3500 miles prior to this, I was seeing things I never saw before, in a good way. Like I said, I alway use the highest octane fuel when towing, so I don’t think it’s fuel quality. I even waited...
Did my first tow after installing the Ram Airflow intake and wanted to report my experience. Prior to this run I have over 3500 miles of towing with this truck/trailer combo so I am very familiar with what to expect under various conditions. See my signature for truck/trailer particulars.
This...
I get up to 15 amps of power from my 7 pin connector, even at idle. I see the the amps produced/drawn using a Victron battery monitor in the trailer, very accurate.
I don’t have a winch but my power tongue jack only draws 3.5 amps. The big slide room on my camper uses 12 amps while moving...
Don’t know how good this will show up. Took this close-up shot today. Didn’t want to remove the 3rd brake light so this is the best I could do. Truck is dusty too. Hopefully you can see how smooth it turned out if you zoom in.
Along the top of the picture is the 3rd brake light. Below that the...
I didn’t get any pics but I’ll see if I can get a pic without removing the third brake light. Kinda crazy today. Maybe tomorrow.
It did lay in the gap really nice. If you take your time there is no mess. No need to touch the sealant with your finger or anything since it’s self leveling. Just...
I used Dicor self leveling lap sealant black (used to seal RV roofs). Completely fills the gap between the cab body and window glass. Lays down smooth. Can’t even tell it’s there and seals completely.
I know we shouldn’t have to fix things like this ourselves, but in this case it’s a very easy fix. In the time it would take me to drive to the dealer I fixed it myself. See my earlier post if you’re interested. Super clean, super easy and no hassle at the service department. Worked for me and...
Those scales are notoriously in-accurate. They are only good for measuring the DIFFERENCE in weight of vehicles as they enter/exit. We had another member on here that took his well optioned truck to a quarry scale and swore he had 2200 payload according to that scale. They’re just not accurate...
See the specs of my trailer in my signature. Two people camping and I’ve done a lot with loading the trailer to reduce tongue weight. Batteries (2) are lithium (30lbs each) replaced the lead batteries (60 each) that were mounted on the tongue and are now mounted further back in the camper...
I tow an 8 foot wide travel trailer that is 26 feet long with the regular mirrors. I say the visibility is good enough.
I bought those snap on extension mirrors for my old 4th gen truck and used them a couple times. They worked ok. They do provide more reach, but I stopped using them since I...
My 2019 now has the frame crack on the drivers side of the sliding window. Leaking also.
I remove the third brake light and looked down at the window frame from the top as you said. Not only was it cracked on the drivers side but a crack was forming on the passenger side as well. The...
I have the short bed and also tow a travel trailer. I can’t really comment on the towing stability difference between the short and long wheelbase, since I haven’t towed with the longer wheelbase. I can say the short bed is plenty stable. I chose the short bed for many reasons and I’m glad I...
