Changing oil more often is the wisest choice imho. I tow 7k# over 60% of the time and change oil at 50% oil indicated or 5k miles whichever is first. The majority of time I’m changing at 4300 – 4500 miles indicating 50%. In late November I made a 3k mile round trip towing and had 2500+ miles on...
I used 3 tubes of Permatex 81730 Flowable Silicone Windshield and Glass Sealer and filled the upper gap of the rear window the full length to the top of the glass. Can’t see it from the ground and no more leaks. Caught my leak early at 35k miles and never gave it a thought to take it to the...
Do the new 2025 Rams that have start /stop also have a 48v battery behind the passenger seat like the 2024 and earlier eTorque engines? Can S/S be disabled?
My truck is going 100k miles and then replaced. I do plan on changing the transmission fluid myself at 60k miles, but I’m only doing a drain and refill, no filter replacement. Honestly one could easily use this method several times for 120k miles without problems. In my 2011 Hemi Ram with 545...
At 30k miles purchased new Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 in XL rating 275/55-20 and have over 12k miles on them now. I had two sets of the original Defenders on my 2011 Ram 1500 prior. I agree the newer LTX M/S2 are not as quiet (when dead quiet no radio playing) as the prior version, and they...
Easy broken stud extraction. Rent a mig welder (120v) from Home Depot and weld a nut to the broken stud and spin right out. Did both exhaust manifolds on my 2011 Hemi Ram with broken rear studs, common problem.
X3. I use a 750ma Junior (have several for over 20 yrs) and it’ll charge/ maintain a 12v auto battery for as long as needed. Just because it charges at a slower rate doesn’t make it any less effective once to maintain mode.
I fixed mine using Permatex 81730 Windshield & Glass Sealant. I Purchased 3 tubes (1.5 oz) and 4 would have been better. I filled that cavity full to the top of window glass completely across the rear of the window and several inches down the sides. A fourth tube would have got me farther down...
Don’t follow the oil minder and change oil / filter every 5k with correct synthetic and you should be fine well over 100k. My 2011 had 180k when a lifter roller needle failed and this was with over half the mileage towing a #7k enclosed car hauler. I changed oil religiously at 3k miles in that...
In my 2011 with 180k miles I was getting a cylinder 5 misfire. Replaced the coil for that cylinder. Less than 200 miles later the engine starts shaking. One of the lifter rollers failed and cam was damaged. Sold as is to a friend (mechanic) and he replaced the engine with a factory rebuilt.
In...
Towing a 7k# 24’ enclosed car hauler alone from upper Midwest through Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, Dayton, Charleston, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raliegh to Dunn NC averaging 60+ for almost 1000 miles straight through with three 20 minute stops for fuel / rest room is tougher than you might...
If you still have those spark plugs you replaced, can you put a feeler gauge to them and report the gap now that they have 103K miles of use on them? TIA
16 hrs towing is 950 - 1000 miles on average for me. If I’m towing and know the round trip will put me over 5k miles between changes I’ll change prior to leaving even with as little as 3,500 miles on the oil. Oil is cheap and towing is the most stress oil will be subjected too.
Just an update a month after doing this window repair on a truck still under 3/36 warranty. I’ve recently been through several days of rain both sitting and towing. My leak is fixed and I don’t believe it will return with the rear window upper exterior cavity completely filled with Permatex...
Towing 15 miles will tell you little on actual mpg imho. I tow 7k# enclosed car hauler 10k+ miles yearly and average 10 mpg @ 65-67. Towing uphill or into the wind will reduce mileage. 3.92, non-etorque
I’ve been following several rear window leak threads and I figured my 2022 would have this window leak problem at some point towing 7k# enclosed car hauler 60% of the time. Yep, last week with 33k miles and 30 months old a small leak started that runs down the window on the passenger side tight...
I’ve been following this rear window leak thread since it started and some others as well and I figured my 2022 would have this window leak problem at some point towing 7k# enclosed car hauler 60% of the time. Yep, last week with 33k miles and 30 months old a small leak started that runs down...
Good video. Too bad this guy didn’t put a feeler gauge to some of the plugs he removed to determine the amount of wear and show it in the video. My bet is that the factory plugs will easily go 150+k miles.
On my 2011 Ram Hemi that came with 30k standard plugs, at 60k miles, I replaced with...
