I no longer have my '19, switched to a Kia Sorento PHEV a few months ago cuz I need a 3rd row and better mpg for the next few years, but I won't need the 3rd row starting in 2025, so I fully expect to check out the Ram PHEV at that point. Unless they royally screw the pooch with their...
Yeah, if it's done well (BIG caveat there!), it would likely get me back into a truck. I don't care about the weight, as long as it has kickass power and range, the effective mpg on the generator is decent, and the payload is acceptable, I'm in if it doesn't break the bank.
I switched to my...
I don't see how Ram could really get away with slapping a (400ish?) lb generator on top of the full loadout of battery cells from the BEV without it being prohibitively heavy.
If you look at it as a PHEV with an electric focus (compared to the current 4xe ICE focus, or my current Sorento PHEV's...
I have no idea what the full EV battery specs would be, but I'd imagine the REPB would have a much smaller battery, somewhere in the ~40-50kWh range, maybe even smaller, depending on how much EV-only range they want to get out of it vs EV + generator range.
What I'd like to see is a PHEV with a dual electric motor setup with power output somewhere in the general vicinity of 400hp/500tq (or more!), a ~40kWh battery, and a sufficiently powerful ICE generator to keep the battery at least at a constant level under any load.
That would allow a decent...
Hence the need to outfit an ICE generator that can fill the battery under any load condition. It's not a technological constraint, it's a design issue that so far none of them have addressed.
It is absolutely possible from a technical perspective to have an ICE generator that produces enough...
I traded my '19 in for a Sorento PHEV in December since I needed a 3rd row, and for the most part I thoroughly enjoy it. There are some nits I have to pick with Kia's particular implementation of the PHEV, but the concept is excellent.
I don't see why Ram couldn't easily jump on the PHEV boat...
I placed an order on 10/22 and realized the next day that between the dealer creating the order sheet that I signed off on and them actually actually submitting the order a few days later, they'd dropped the 33 gallon tank.
I noticed that discrepancy the day after they submitted the order and...
I think it's pretty cool. It doesn't meet the needs of my passenger carrying use case and the bed is too short, but besides that I have no real problems with it.
I'm not a gasoline/diesel purist and am 100% open to an electric truck that meets my use case. This one doesn't quite check those...
Mine does not work consistently. The setting is turned on, but it doesn't actually work every time. Usually if I just cycle it off and on, it works again, but usually at least once a week it doesn't work without cycling.
I placed an order with Shawn on 10/22 and followed up on 10/23 asking if they could make an update on the order. As of yesterday, he said they've heard nothing from Stellantis on the order, either in regards to the initial order or the update request.
Not at all happy with Stellantis on that...
I really don't get all the angst over the knob.
Over the years I've had sedans, SUVs, and vans with console shifters, column shifters, push buttons, and now the knob.
It literally took me 2-3 days to get used to the knob and I now prefer it over all the other shifting mechanisms I've used. I...
I just put in an order for another Ram yesterday, but if the Sierra still looks as good in a few years when I'm up for my next truck, it'll definitely be on the test drive list.
I ordered a 3.0 yesterday and fully intend to get it tuned when it comes in next spring/summer.
Cloning the PCM so I can swap it out is the only way I'll get the GDE, I'm not going to deal with the truck being down for 5+ days for me to ship the only PCM to them and deal with that hassle...
