FYI about brakes... I test drove a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali before purchasing my Ram Laramie. While the extra power of the engine was noticeable, the GMC was still a tad bouncy and the brakes were pretty weak. While the stock brakes on my RAM are not quite as good as the aftermarket setup I had...
My 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 used to cut fuel at 105mph, so at least they are still consistent.
Most aftermarket tuners will let you raise or eliminate that limit. Just FYI...
@Dusty1948, I hear you.
But with all of the documented cases of brake squeal on this forum alone, I think the aftermarket is missing out on a money-making opportunity here. I seriously doubt that I am the only person here who would rather just get better aftermarket pads, then have the...
No regrets at all with my Laramie either. I have had it 7 weeks now and have put 4500 miles on it. The only issues I have had are the occasional clunk in the front end when turning (yes, I know there is a TSB out there, but since it only happens occasionally, I doubt it will happen when the...
Why 6000? Old hot rodder superstition. First oil change 600, second at 4000. I was taught that the first 600 miles is where bearings and other surfaces break in. And 3500 to 4000 is how long it takes the rings to fully seat. So, I add a little buffer to 6000 before I mod a vehicle.
If you...
Keep us up to date OP. Would be interested to know if you do the mod and see/notice any difference.
So far, I am more than pleased with the stock LEDs on my Laramie. Way better than the headlights were on my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ.
Been a little over a week now since I installed the Green Filter. I have finally had a chance to get it on the highway and open it up. There is a little more intake sound over the stock filter. Sounds good. The 17 year old in me still loves to hear the roar of a big V8. I keep waiting for...
Good to know about Kooks. A lot of the Camaro guys swear by them. Hopefully, they will be available this summer. Still only have 3000 miles on my Ram, not really interested in touching the motor yet. But, after 6000, game on!
I also came from an older GM: I had a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ 4x4. The difference in ride quality between the Chevy and my new RAM are night and day. The RAM is an order of magnitude better.
About the only thing I miss from my Chevy are the bumper steps. There is a post in the...
Why? The Laramie has LED lights too. From what I understand the main difference between the Laramie and Limited headlights is that the one in the Limited follow the steering wheel... Active.
Personally, I would rather not have the active headlights. Just one less electronic thing to fail...
I have not dyno'd it or anything, but it definitely feels peppier. As far as whether or not it is better... That is a subjective term. I will say that over on the camaro forum, there are some documented tests that show the green filter for the 6th generation camaro flows more air than the...
So, my Green Filter showed up today and I installed it. Fit like a glove. But, I didn't notice any black mesh thing like you mentioned.
I'll open the airbox back up this weekend and take some pics.
If this is supposed to go in the 5.7 Hemi folder, I apologize for starting this thread in the wrong place.
Anyway, so I wanted to put a high flow air filter in mine. Been reading a ton of good things about the Green Filter over on the 6th Gen Camaro forum (my other vehicle is a 2018 ZL1...
I didn't realize there was a shortage of eTorque V8s. My Laramie that I bought 3 weeks ago has the eTorque. And my local dealer has 2 limiteds with eTorque...
OP, if if makes you feel any better, my last truck (the one I traded on this RAM) was a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ. I had it for 4 years, 4 months and 68k miles. In that time period I had: front rotors warped, AC died at 3 years, front axle locked up due to a spun bearing on one of the half...
