Iowa has the same problem. Even worse when they spray that crap and all it does is drizzle, or just gets cloudy.
Should sue the DOT for wasting taxpayer dollars and rusting vehicles....;)
Where abouts do you live?
My 2015 has very minor surface rust on the frame at 100k miles. Nothing like what's pictured. Yikes.
Historically GMs seem to have frame rust issues. Lost count of the number of "V" shaped 90's era silverados i've seen with the beds hitting back of cabs. Brother in...
KBS has a rust seal product, which is what i applied. I did have slight surface rust near the cab mounts. Truck has 100k miles and has been through 4 winters. It was the only product my local custom truck shop had on hand

Understood, that's why i stated the 400 lbs within the sentence that begins with "the tow rating for your truck". Technically though, it is built into the GCWR as calculated per j2807.
You weren't foolish, and you're just fine. The tow rating for your truck (and the GCWR established based on J2807) has essentially 400 lbs of payload built in (300 for passengers, 100 for optional equipment). The payload rating for your truck is somewhat conservative, based on your GVWR minus...
Several of the comments including the OP appear to be the slight bump when coming to a stop. This is why i clarified that a slight bump 2-1 when coming to a stop is completely normal for this trans. You can also experience a harsh shift or jolt when accelerating from a slight roll if you catch...
A slight kick downshifting from 2-1 is absolutely normal operation for the ZF 8 speed, regardless of miles. I have 2 hemi vehicles with the 8 speed (Ram 1500 with 105k miles and a durango with 45k miles). Both do it, and it is not a problem. I would never describe it as harsh though. Another...
I've applied KBS rust converter and rust seal all under the cab and rocker panels of my truck, and covered the side holes that would let crap in (where running boards mount) in an effort to add an extra layer of protection and stop some minor surface rust that was appearing around cab mounts and...
I have. Large sliding door carried on top of the bed rails. No problem, though i did evenly distribute the load using 2x4s. I'd say rambox side rails are likely stronger than standard bed side rails and would be more resistant to bending with things like scaffolding/etc pushing on them from the...
My brother had a quadrasteer. I didn't remember the bed was composite though. He loved it and i drove it a few times. It really was a good idea and pretty good execution, though i didn't care for the seats or the GM programming of the 6.0
Too early to tell. 3rd gens were known for their rust issues, due to design of the rear fenders (why a lot of guys recommend rear wheel liners, to keep stuff from flinging up there in the first place). I had the rear fender rust, rust along the rockers and cab corners, and rust starting along...
Excellent post and thread. As a "hemi or nothing" kind of guy, i'm still a staunch defender of the pentastar. Great efficiency. It is in my opinion the best of the lower tow rated tier of 1/2 ton trucks, for its combination of efficiency, performance, and comfort.
I think it was a combination of things (weight, strength, feel, cost, durability, corrosion resistance). Compare this roughly to a metal tool box lid. Thin metal is not very strong, without bending or crimping the edges. Body panels have mount points to support the ends, whereas the ends of a...
Seems overly negative, for a feature you guys dont have and never used. If all you would need it for is a cooler, then its not a feature you should consider.
For guys that use their trucks and need to carry lots of general equipment, the feature is invaluable. Can't say i've seen many regret...
Agreed. Funnier still is Mr Alex Luft (responsible for the analysis in the article) attempting to support the article in the comments section, getting more down votes than up votes.
Article claims "it’s worth revisiting it now with cooler heads, now that the dust has settled." (regarding Q1...
Forgot to mention, the gap widened from 5,713 in Q1 to nearly 20,000 at the end of May, if sources on GMinsidenews are to be believed.
