Did the same thing with this adapter. I tapped mine in the rearview mirror. Power is right there.

I would just remove the cover plates and have a look inside. Pretty sure they are just clips holding it on.

It's not the brightness, it's the focal point in the reflector. You cannot just put LED's in a halogen reflector. Has been explained many times.

If the used new one does not have the module installed, you will need to swap out the main connector as well. The regular tail light does not have the internal wiring for the module.

The color is tan with a brown stripe. In deutsch...Beige mit einem braunen streifen. The connector is C6 pin 25 on the BCM.

The headlight is a complete assembly and does not have "Bulbs" in them. They are all circuit bords and controlled by the BCM.
