That's mostly correct, radar sensors are much better and simpler than cameras for detecting objects and avoiding collisions.
However, there is a camera (i.e. vision system) in the windshield in back of the rearview mirror for the LaneSense system.
PPF is soft plastic, it guards against scratches and very minor impacts but probably would have not prevented damage from a direct hit by a sizable rock. Also, some PPF may not be optically clear enough for camera use and it might be difficult to get such a tiny piece to adhere properly.

I love the Granite Crystal Metallic, in fact, that was my first choice. I was going to order a 1500 but no dealer would give me a good price on one. I got an incredible deal on the Limited because it was in stock. So, black it was.
Silver is even better. Doesn't show scratches or dirt very well.
Black is the worse, I swore I'd never own a black truck again and yet I bought a '21 Limited Blackout Edition. I must be a glutton for torture. It gets dirty just sitting there, lol. But when it's clean it looks sooo good.
This is tough advice to follow since it takes so long to order a truck. If your finish requires repainting, then that is a valid reason to reject a vehicle.
However, once you accept the truck and take it home, it becomes significantly harder to reject it since it's now technically no longer a...
Black trucks show swirl marks more than any other color. We all expect a new car to be pristine, but that isn't always the case. My 21 Limited came with numerous paint issues and like yours was covered in swirl marks.
I took mine back to the dealer several times. Their body shop fixed all but...
Thanks to all who took the time to reply. I'll switch to 89 and see if the pinging stops when towing. Hopefully that should solve the issue. I'm just glad it's not something wrong with the engine.
This is not yet another octane thread. I've read the general arguments of octane choices many, many times, but that is not what I'm asking here. My question is much more specific to a problem I'm having.
In normal use, my 1500 runs fine on 87 but when heavy towing it pings considerably, so...
I have a 2021 1500 Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. With the skyrocketing cost of gas, I've been using 87 octane gas (regular). I sometimes get occasional very light knocking only when the engine is in ECO mode (MDS) but other than that it runs great.
However, when I recently tried to pull my travel...
If you're installing the winch on a non-permanent use-by-use basis as I am, you can use an Anderson connector as shown in my installation. Once disconnected, there is no potential alternate path to ground.
If you're installing the winch on a permanent basis, you can use a typical battery...
Update: A very important caveat on bypassing the IBS for winch installations.
If you decide to bypass the IBS for your winch, always keep in mind that this is only for when actually using the winch. The winch must be detached from the bypass wiring when not in use as I show in my example via...
First of all, you do not ever want to bypass the IBS when charging. RAM has a TSB out on this. That is called "Blind Charging". The IBS carefully monitors all electrical current going into and out of the battery to properly report the battery's condition. When you charge the battery, the IBS...
What kind of headlights do you have? If they're HID, check Fuse 55 and 61. Other types of headlights do not have their own fuse as they're controlled by an electronic control module which itself may be fused. The Central Body Controller (CBC) usually controls lighting.
I fully understand that eTorque uses an MGU in place of an alternator, however, like an alternator, it also supplies power to the battery which will significantly supplement the battery's output when using a winch. I assume its output would be similar to the alternator on a non-eTorque model as...
My 12K winch is rated to draw over 440 amps max.
Granted, that is maximum current and most likely not typical. However, it wouldn't be prudent to hook it up in any fashion that might destroy the IBS, which is probably only rated to handle 200-250 amps, by assuming it won't draw enough current...
