That seems to be the same one I got from ebay. I am digging it so far. I just hope the gasket keeps the water out because the 2 vs 4 screws thing had me worried as well. But as you also said, the gasket is very thick. Fingers crossed because I really do like the look and the price can't be beat.
The pics are terrible, I know. A photographer, I am not :D I hope this helps though.
But, I can say that the bed is filled with light. I have the two OEM bed LEDs helping so its tough to see whats lighting what. It appears to be putting out plenty of light to illuminate the entire bed. Tomorrow...
Yes, it has a thick foam gasket that has an adhesive backing. It's a different design than factory but very thick so when it's compressed it seems to have left no gaps. The question will be if that gasket stops the water.
Thanks! The one I got was only about $40 shipped on Ebay. Seems to be well made but the real test will be if it keeps the water out. I will be watching it closely for a while.
Getting close to the end of the lighting upgrades. I installed an LED third brake light and a set of hybrid LED headlights. The headlights have a cool "starting animation" when the truck starts and the turn signals are animated as well. As I said they are hybrid so the surround/signals and...
Swapped in some Rebel style LED taillights with lightly smoked lenses to replace the non-LED OEM ones my truck came with. I am very happy with the results. It was just the change I was looking for. Now I need to do something about the third brake light as it is still incandescent. I am looking...
I hadn't considered that. I suppose it'd be no different than the truck not running for a period of time. I will only have it closed off for about two months up here in the northeast while the peak of the summer temps are here. Now that you mention that though, I will likely just crack the valve...
Yes, it was roasting hot after I spent about 20-25 minutes inside the chiropractors office after driving there so the engine was fully warm. I should have added those details so it didn't imply a cold start. Good catch, thanks.
Maybe it would if it had just had hot coolant circulated in it 20 minutes earlier from driving I don't know. But it really did cool down faster and colder.
That's kind of why I went with the valve so it's easy to go back quickly if needed. According to the Amazon instructions you can also run it in 1/4-1/2 open position when you might need a little heat as in spring/fall. That scenario with humidity and needing some heat has happened very rarely...
I can now confirm the heater core block off mod does indeed work. I did not use a thermometer before/after but the AC is very noticeably colder with the valve shut.
True and I did think of that. But in every thread I read the results seemed overwhelmingly positive after doing the mod. If figured for $20 why not just go ahead and do it. If it doesn't work I can always return it to Amazon I guess.
I was intrigued by your post about AC temps so I went ahead and got the ball valve kit from Amazon. Put it in tonight but it's cool outside now. The rest of the week will be a good test for it as it's supposed to be a heat wave. Easy install. I only lost maybe 3-4 ounces of coolant because I...
