We just got home from a 900 mile ride in our 2021 Laramie 5.7 non-etorque which has 44k miles on it. Original owner. The truck’s computer reported 18.8 mpg running mid-grade $6.50/gal fuel over that 900 miles. This was a trip involving lots of Pacific Highway 1 driving, much interstate, and no attempt by my foot to “save gas.”
Took the chief of finances to the airport, almost 4 hour round trip, was getting 15.5 mpg in normal Friday afternoon rush hour traffic to IAD and back.
Like others here have said...anything over 5 minutes of warm up idling is overkill, even in like 5 degree weather. Plus the winter temperatures alone is not helping, neither is the winter blend fuel. Try to take the highway every chance you get. 20 minutes of driving at minimum in those temps will help too as you want the trucks to get to full operating temperature.
