New info on Gas tank fueling issue

So I picked up some Sea Foam on Saturday on the off chance that my fill up issues where cause by a stuck rollover valve, and that maybe a buildup of some sort is what was causing it to stick.

After pouring the Sea Foam into the tank, I went and got gas. I had zero issues with the pump kicking off. I don't know if that was a fluke or not. I'll update after my next fill up.

100% fluke. Thebo my thing you did was change the chemistry of your fuel and reduce its effectiveness. Seafoam is a mild solvent. Not good on seals or internal parts of fuel pump and I jectors that rely on the fuel for lubrication

The other day I took fish tape, ran it down the neck until I felt an obstruction. I pushed against the obstruction until I felt it break loose. I did that a few times. Filled up right afterwards and had no issues with the pump kicking off. We'll see if this was the fix or a fluke next time I fill up.

what else do you believe could be used instead of fish tape?
most of us do not have that laying around.

I tried that when mine was acting up, didn't fix it. This is why it needs to be diagnosed, instead of just throwing parts at it. The same issue can be caused by several different items.

I'd be concerned about what the obstruction was and any effects of it now being free floating in the tank.

I probably would have used my sewer cam for drains and get a look at what I was dealing with.

I'm a little confused by these two posts. First you used sea foam, after which you said you were then able to fuel up with no problem. Then you posted about running fish tape down and freeing an "obstruction" and had the same results. Why did you do the fish tape thing after the sea foam thing was supposedly successful? You said you would update us the next time you filled up, but your next post was about using the fish tape, which I can only assume that the sea foam thing didn't work the next time you filled up and you just forgot to update us. Have you filled up since using fish tape? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say both were flukes, and the root cause of your issue is still there.

The obstruction would be the rollover valve. At least I hope. I ran the fish tape down there in the hopes that my issues at the gas pump was that the valve was sticking.

I guess I thought yall would understand that the seafoam did not fix the issue when I made a second post trying another way to unstick the possibly stuck rollover valve. My fault.

The seafoam did not fix the issue. So the next step was to see if I could manually unstick the rollover valve by running fish tape down the filler neck.

I have not filled up yet. But your post has inspired me to do so now. Be back in 10 minutes.

If I don't report back, assume that the fish tape did not fix my issue and I drove the truck into the Mississippi River.

Thanks for the update. And I'm glad you were able to keep the truck on dry land. ;)

Honesty, driving my truck into the river it would probably land on top of another truck put there by a guy committing insurance fraud.
