We are pleased to report that another 2500 customers will be campaigned to receive the Digital Key capability FOTA (firmware-over-the-air) update over the next few days.

As a reminder, this current launch is for model year 2025 Ram 1500 trucks (DT) that were BUILT in calendar year 2024.

Any customers that reached out to us prior to today are on our list that has been shared with the FOTA team; if your vehicle is in the 2024 build year population you should be receiving an update. We have NOT been given information on the launch timing for build year 2025 yet, but you can be sure we will share it when we do!

If anyone needs specific instructions on activating the Key through your app once you've received the update, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I received a FOTA update this afternoon. Haven't seen any update to the app just yet.

Edit: The app has updated to add the key tile tonight. I will pair it some time tomorrow.

Hi! Yes, it’s a MY25 built in December 2024.
I previously sent my VIN.
I see another batch is coming in the next couple of days, so I’ll wait to see if I’m in that batch.

I experienced my first glitch with SPAAK. I was coming off the train, remote started my truck from the app. Got 2 weird notifications. One was that the doors couldn't be locked because a door or window was open (it was not), and that remote start failed because it was already started.
When I walked up to the truck, it would not open with my hand behind the handle. Then I tried to unlock from the Ram app, also got failure message. I had my digital card in my wallet, tried that a bunch of times on both driver and passenger door. Finally, after about 10 minutes (truck was still running so I know it was still less than 20 minutes), the drivers side door finally unlocked w the digital card. I had to put the digital card on the charger, etc. I haven't tried to use again without the keyfob cause I'm a little gun-shy now but will try again.

How long have you had the digital key? Was this after the recent FOTA? I just got it today but still need to try it.
I will never leave home without the FOB so the whole thing is kind of useless to me at this point. I'm not willing to put that much trust in technology.

Since I have paired the phone and truck, I can walk up to it and the steps deploy but it doesn't unlock until my hand touches the handle. It's only my first day with little experience with it so far.

It doesn’t do proximity unlock. At least my 2026 never has.

That is a safety feature. It will not unlock until you put your hand behind the handle. It behaves the exact same if you have your key fob in your pocket.

It’s not a safety feature. Plenty of other makes have proximity unlock and lock as a feature. Some people like it some don’t. I can say that they don’t drain the battery like Stellantis.

Follow instructions on the truck screen and keep the phone on the truck charger. It was quick and easy for me.

I always get the updates after I have driven somewhere. I park and turn the truck off and the update pops up on the screen. You can't go anywhere until the update is done. They always say they are 26 minute updates but this one went quick.

It’s not a safety feature. Plenty of other makes have proximity unlock and lock as a feature. Some people like it some don’t. I can say that they don’t drain the battery like Stellantis.

Design choice or safety feature, same difference. Some manufacturers think something is unsafe that others don’t. I don’t know if it is still this way but Toyota makes it so that when you remote start their engine it turns off as soon as you open the door. I have relatives with several different Toyotas and they all behave like this. Apparently Toyota doesn’t think you should be able to keep the vehicle running once you open the door. Ram doesn’t think the door should unlock before you touch the door handle.

Is there a way to verify if our vehicle was in this batch? I had previously provided my build info but haven’t seen any updates come across my truck. It hooks up to my home WiFi each day and I drive around with it tethered to my phone for internet.

If you have not recieved the update by now then your vehilce was not apart of this batch. However, you have been added to the list and we will continue to keep the forum updated regarding the next batches.
